Great fish and chips. Seasoned well but not super salty like most chippies. Pretty generous portions and great service. One of the best I've had in New Zealand
Great meal with fresh fish and delicious scallops. They have big menu, very busy, so let them know if you need some time to order as they can be pushy, but food is too good not to rate 5 starts.
Ordered a fresh fillet dinner instead of a fish dinner specifically because I wanted fresh fish fillet, optional tarakihi or grouper depending on availability I requested either one was fine. Instead I received frozen fish NOT fresh at all very chewy dry and stringy like a frozen packet of sealord fish or like the cheapest stinky shark from any fish and chip shop I also ordered a piece of snapper on the side which was fresh and flaky definitely nothing at all like the fillet I received in the "fresh fillet dinner meal" Had high hopes as we had ordered normal fish the week before and even that was yum and much fresher than this so called fresh fillet I had ordered in my "fresh fillet dinner". For $32 per fish fillet dinner I would expect fresh fish and if not available to be advised or I wouldn't have bothered driving out to Plimmerton specifically for "fresh fish" dinner
The freshest, most delectable, mouth watering fish and seafood I’ve eaten in NZ, UK, EU or anywhere else. Just astoundingly succulent, juicy and fresh. It tastes like it had just leapt out of the ocean. I cannot fault the expert cook on this - crispy light delicate batter and lovingly selected, prepared and perfected seafood. The service is slightly barbed but the food is just too good to not give five stars.
Today we visited with a couple of locals stating this Fish & Chip shop was amazing, We arrived to see quite a few people waiting outside, It’s a small but very busy shop, it took about 40 minutes for our order to be ready and it was worth the wait, We ordered a fish burger, crabmeat stick, crumbed fish, nuggets and cheeseburger for the kids and Garlic Butter Fries full scoop. Everything was amazing, a normally fussy child finished the cheese burger without a problem, the fish burger was great, and everything else was too! The surprise was the Garlic Butter Fries! They were amazing! Highly recommended if you ever visit here! There is some seating out the front, a little park across the road where you can sit and enjoy your meal or you can take it just around the corner near the water and watch the sunset. While waiting a lady mentioned she drove from upper hut to come here for the fish and chips as she use to live in the area many years ago which is about a 28 kilometer drive which is just over 17 miles. Always a great place for a Friday fish and chips. Fish is really fresh and the scallops are delicious, no mentioning theirs gourmet loaded wedges.
Well impressed! Was passing by, saw was opened, after 3pm,Weds... decided to try it out, yumo! Had battered fish, half scoop of chips, fish cake & homemade gravy... under $20, was delish! Crispy batter on fish, chips were fluffy inside and nice and crispy outter, gravy mmmm, totally recommend! Lady even brought our kai to us whilst we waited outside for order, didnt hear our order called out, typical windy as wellies weather, thankyou! Will be back :)
I used to love this place, under its previous management. The fish was fantastic and the service was good. It was the best fish and chips shop in Wellington. Not anymore. Now the food is worse and the service much worse. Dealing with rude teenage servers doesn't work for me. I'll be getting my fish and chips from Thai Plimmerton from now on.
Extremely disappointing. After an hour and 20 minute wait we opened our fish and chips to find they were over well over cooked to the pointer couldn’t eat them.
Excellent food, huge range and fantastic friendly service. I had the loaded wedges plus cheese burger, wedges were a meal on their own. Wife had delicious fish and a generous helping of potato fritters.
