   Dodgy operational practices: 1. changing quoted price without first indicating the expiry date, 2. leaving me with no option other than having the ring couriered when we originally agreed I could pick it up at their Auckland showroom, 3. no indication at outset the final half of the deposit is to be paid before the ring is received and unhelpful communication on their insurance policy. Knowing these things upfront would have resulted in me choosing another jewelry store. This review is based on circumstances VG couldn't control to some degree (e.g closing their Auckland showroom) but it's their lack of clear communication and customer service in managing the issues that has left me incredibly disappointed: 1. At the initial consultation I was told I could pick up the ring at the Auckland showroom, because I explained I didn't want it couriered. They told me if I wanted to receive the ring by Dec, I needed to place the order by the end of Sep. So I did. They responded saying the quote has increased in price. I explained I hadn't been given an expiry date so they honoured the original price which was helpful. 2. However, the Auckland showroom is now closed and the ring is ready. With no prior notice the showroom was closed, / closing which I suspect it was at the time of my order so there was probably duty to inform me. I certainly would have gone with another retailer because as we explained to VG at the outset, when I visited the Auckland showroom: neither my partner or I are home during the day to receive a courier. 3. This is a wedding band, it is a significant cost for us, so I was concerned whether their insurance covers it if its delivered to an incorrect address (i.e what happens if someone signs for it). I received a vague answer that it is covered "in transit". And told I don't need to worry about that scenario. The ring is on its way, and I hope it's atleast what we ordered (e.g size, style - the size was taken by them in the store using their sizing so should be correct but the overall handling of this order doesn't fill me with faith) and arrives safely as I suspect this company won't be easy to deal with.

   We got our wedding rings designed by the lovely Bri! She was amazing during the design process, taking notes of our ideas, keeping our budget in mind and has been communicative and transparent throughout. Would highly recommend VG to anyone!

   Just a note to say thanks to you Courtney and the Village Goldsmith team. Heather and I are delighted with our rings. You listened carefully to us, designed our rings exquisitely in consultation with us and made best use of my mother's family stones and platinum. It's lovely for me to be able to see the stones sparkling on a daily basis, rather than being smothered, sitting in their brooch in a drawer. The whole experience was really outstanding, particularly your warm friendly service throughout and great communication. Seeing the 3D samples and knowing the excellent standards your jewellers work to gave us confidence. All that, plus completion was on time and within budget. Congratulations.

   The team at The Village Goldsmith have been brilliant time after time and I’m so grateful we have them in Wellington. They recreated my mums unique engagement ring with an Aquamarine that we got to choose together at the store before mum passed away, and they worked so hard to make it a perfect twin of the ring that my sister now wears. Now we both have a beautiful memento to our mum, and I’m very thankful for their time, empathy and dedication to this very special project. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough x

   Went in for a custom engagement ring and Meg did a great job of helping me hone in on a vision from the vague concepts I had come in with. The variation sketches, rendered model, and 3D print really helped me feel confident in the process. The ring itself has excellent craftsmanship and has found itself very highly complimented by admirers. Overall wonderful staff, great expertise, and good value.

   Took my 2 platinum rings in to be polished up. They did it in less than an hour and for a very reasonable price. Other jewellers were wanting to charge me a lot more and take 1-2 weeks. The premises is beautiful too.

   Amazing service. Have purchased a budget titanium wedding band to be my daily piece and to preserve my much more expensive gold ring. I decided to go with Village Goldsmith as they offer half sizes. Service was quick and the ring arrived within 2 1/2 weeks. The ring is very tidy and feels like a quality piece. Was also pleasantly surprised with the beautiful jewellery box it arrived in (considering the ring was under $200!)
