Loved our first stay at hotel. Tried to book it again. Website has been down for two weeks. No one answers calls to the hotel and no return calls when we leave messages. Very frustrating. Lovely hotel though.
Our experience at Hotel Fitzroy was a great way to end our trip to New Zealand. The staff were very attentive and allowed us to check into our room early, and additionally prioritised our breakfast due to an early flight. The decor in our room (Campbell Suite) and the main hotel is fantastic, the bed is super comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and well designed. The hotel is in a great area of town (Ponsonby) with lots of shops, bars and restaurants, although I recommend booking the restaurants in advance. We had a very memorable stay!
Fitzroy was all we wanted to wrap up our honeymoon. The hotel is located in a beautiful area, rooms are quiet and beds are large, breakfast was delicious and the 2 team members we interacted with - Pablo and Eric - were friendly and helpful (thanks Pablo for the “what to do in 1 day in Auckland” recommendation) We would totally come back here if ever again in Auckland. Last but not least, short 30 mins ride from the airport
Fantastic hotel, the service was impeccable! Leo was a wonderful host, took care of us and start to finish. And the breakfast was out of this world, more than I could eat, but the best eggs Benedict I’ve had in a long long time. The location of this hotel is ideal, especially as an out-of-town visitor to Auckland. Definitely will stay here again!
Pros: The decor of the room is very nice, with 3m ceilings and large windows that open. The bathroom is spacious and the underfloor heating is a nice touch. Cons: There is much not to like. The hotel is noisy and we could hear people walking in the halls and upstairs at all hours of the night. The room appears spacious because of the high ceilings, but in fact is quite small. There is only one chair and a tiny table (for two people) wedged into a corner right next to the bathroom door. The room we had (Campbell Suite) overlooked a side yard where the hotel's bags of laundry were prominently on display, and the other window overlooked the street which was very busy with cars. There is only street parking available (and not necessarily near the hotel), with no drop-off area, so be prepared to walk if you don't get lucky finding a spot. Staff presented themselves as pleasant, but seemed put out with basic requests. Not sure about the security, as someone tried to open the door to our room in the middle of the night. It could have been another guest thinking it was their room, but it also could have been someone from outside the hotel. We were looking forward to our stay and expected Hotel Fitzroy to deliver a luxury experience, but we were totally disappointed.
Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Fitzroy, we were very comfortable and staff was very friendly, helpful and caring for our every need. Located in city fringe - it’s a nice pocket of Auckland to explore with lots of restaurants and shops.
We loved everything about our stay at the hotel!! Service was amazing, the rooms were comfortable and perfectly appointed and the breakfast was soooo yummy. We enjoyed being within walking distance of shops, restaurants etc. Highly recommend this for your next stay!
I truly wish that I could give this hotel and its wonderful staff a million stars. The staff is absolutely amazing. The second you walk in the door, you feel right at home. We stayed here twice, bookending our tour throughout NZ, each time was superb. Peter, Kal, Leo-- the entire team was incredible. The hotel feels like you're in a beautiful, private home-- the rooms are cozy and the evening social hour up in the library is a special opportunity to meet other guests while sipping on a glass of lovely wine. The location is perfect, close enough to the main road so you're within walking distance to all the fun shops and restaurants but removed enough so that you return home to a quiet atmosphere. The breakfasts in the morning are to die for, we are still talking about them! So much care and attention is paid to this hotel. It is evident that the staff goes above and beyond to help their guests however they can. We hope to stay here again soon and we offer our gratitude to the Hotel Fitzroy staff for all of their kindness!
We stayed at Hotel Fitzroy for two nights when we first arrived in Auckland, and it was the perfect place to get acquainted with the city and New Zealand. The room, staff and in-room dining were all fantastic. The hotel is also in a great location—really close to a fun neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants, but far enough from the city center to be calm and quiet. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but the on-site staff were very helpful!
I stayed here during a business trip and it was hands down the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Auckland. The team are lovely and made it feel like a home away from home. The room was so cozy and the treat of breakfast in bed every morning was incredible! Couldn’t recommend this location more, an absolute must if you’re staying in Auckland!
