Highly recommend this tour! Richard really brings the details to life with his knowledge and storyboards. By the end of the tour, Richard felt like family.
Very fun tour and loved our tour guide. They were very knowledgeable about all things LOTR and WETA. And they knew a ton about NZ and all the movie stuff in the area. We did the half day and it flew by. Could have easily stayed for the full day and the afternoon film locations. It was a great way to see the area, learn some cool movie facts and how they make the magic of Lord of the Rings. Highly recommend.
I cannot express how much we loved this tour. Lester was an incredible guide, and while this tour might be aimed at Lord of the Rings movie fans, it was a beautifully well rounded education about all things New Zealand. Lester was friendly and smart and so excited to share his culture with us. I came looking for an LotR tour and left with SO much more. In addition to that, his ability to take pictures in each of the spots without a lot of wasted shots, was really phenomenal! I would do this tour again in a heartbeat, if I knew it was going to be Lester as my guide.
So we had a full day LOTR tour with Stan today. What an incredible asset to your company! He was absolutely spot on with everything, so full of facts and tidbits! thoroughly enjoyed our day, he was amazing and really made our last day here super special. All the locations and pictures went together perfectly and he was just spot on! Thank you so so so much!!! STAN IS THE MAN!! Even if he did wobble the bridge!
I had an amazing tour with Richard the full day LOTR Wellington tour which includes Weta Workshop. Richard was knowledgeable, fun and really cared about giving a memorable experience to his group! Xplor tours keep the group sizes smaller, so you don't feel lost in a crowd and it's a great option for solo travellers! Absolutely, I would do a tour with them again when I'm back in Wellington in the future!
We used Xplor Tours for multiple tours for our group of 50 guests from Bucket List Events. Our guests loved each of the tours. The city tour was wonderful and a full day of seeing the city of Wellington, Weta Cave, Cable Car, and various stops and view points along the way. Richard and the team at Xplor know the area and the tips, history, and info to keep you entertained and informed along the way. Another favorite was the Seal Colony -- this was a highlight for many. It was our first time visit New Zealand and of course we had to do a lord of the Rings tour. It was wonderful! Our guide Stan was awesome! He was knowledgeable, fun, and prompt. We saw so much in the time we had. Highly recommend the full day tour. And if you can ask for Stan! You won’t regret it!
Spent 2 great days with Richard exploring and tasting the flavours of the Wairarapa region, with a leisurely stroll thru the small hamlet of Greytown, then a Wellington City tour taking us around the harbour, Weta Cave, Cable Car and Parliament. Today , Sunday 19/02/2023 . We were rescued from being blown off the cruise line dock by Dean ( or Harry ), our tour guide for the Wellington Tour . As luck would have it we arrived in Wellington the day of the Marathon, and all it’s road closures and ensuing traffic problems . Mighty Dean not only kept us amused with his Dad jokes and one liners , he took each and every obstacle in his stride and made his “ fly by the seat of your pants “ attitude and gave us a far more than expected day tour including still getting us our tram ride after his tickets ended up in the drink beside the Ovation of the Seas . Cannot give enough praise to Dean . His humour , attitude and customer first problem solving gave all the group an amazing and much appreciated extended tour ( even if we had a late lunch ). Perryn and David .
Difficult to hear over the air conditioning fan and audio speakers, gave tour comments without pointing where relevant topic was located and whenever the point of interest presented in the distance only the driver and front passenger were able to view it cause the bus is not purpose built for easy viewing for all. Won't bother next time as I expected the Hop on Hop off Buses from Europe and elsewhere where the commentary is tailored to the exact tour.
