   I visited this salon last Wednesday for hair straightening including a haircut. When I booked the appointment, I clearly stated that I wanted a permanent hair straightening. The straightening process at this salon felt completely different from my previous experiences—I've had my hair straightened for over 10 years at other reputable salons - Poco a Poco in Remuera & Vivo in Birkenhead. I even pointed this out to the owner, Avier, during the appointment. He told me they were using a new technology called 'Nano straightening,' which he claimed lasts longer than regular permanent straightening. For comparison, regular permanent straightening normally can last up to 6 months. Guess what? My hair started curling again after just 4 days! What a rip-off for $300. I've been in New Zealand for over 20 years, and I've never written a bad review about any hairdressers—this is the first time in my life. Re: Their reply focuses on the different straightening process but avoids explaining why my hair isn't straight just 4 days later. Regardless of what the treatment is called, it’s a failure if the result isn’t straight hair—right? Also I was talking about the Nanjing Massacre during the 2nd World War as a historical event during the appointment. It was not hate speech. In fact, Avier mentioned he was also interested in history. I’m shocked that they would twist this into a personal attack against a customer, just to deflect from the real issue — their rip-off service.

   Lenif is truly amazing! I honestly can’t say enough good things about Lenif. She’s the first hairdresser I’ve had in the last 10 years who just got it—she knew exactly what I wanted before I even said a word. That alone blew me away. My hair is extremely thick and really difficult to manage, and most stylists don’t know what to do with it. Lenif took the time to explain what was actually going on with my hair, what was causing the issues, and how I could take better care of it moving forward. She made me feel so understood and taken care of. And the cut? Absolutely perfect. It's stylish, manageable, and suits me so well. I walked out feeling lighter (literally and emotionally!), more confident, and just really happy with how everything turned out. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. Not only is Lenif incredibly talented, but the entire team was warm, welcoming, and professional. You can really feel the good energy in the salon, and it made the visit that much more special. I’m so glad I found her—and I honestly can’t imagine going to anyone else now.

   I got a Director’s Cut here and was not disappointed. If you’re looking to get a shaggy style/wolf cut for an affordable price go see Avier. One of the most important things about finding a good hairdresser is finding someone who will listen to what you want, which he did amazingly. He also cut it in such a way that I don’t even need to style it day to day which is perfect. Thank you so much!

   Thank you Avier for coming to the rescue and saving my hair from the brassy yellow mess I was left with after seeing another hairdresser at a different salon. I am SO grateful to have come across you and ‘The Cutting Room’! You have restored my faith in hairdressers! I really appreciate you listening to me when I explained what I was hoping to achieve, and for taking your time and being so thorough (even when washing ALL of the bleach out of my hair, which I’ve found many other hairdressers neglect to do). I left feeling like a superstar and couldn’t be happier with my hair. THANK YOU! :)
