Food is always amazing but today there was a mouse in the womanβs bathroom sink. They didnβt seem too surprised about the fact. If thereβs one thereβs more so me and my family left. Thinking about calling health and safety. So be cautious

Great restaurant for banquet meals. Also discounts for members. Roast Duck is excellent.

You wonβt go wrong with Regals if youβre after authentic chinese cuisine or a fantastic spread of yum cha. They have a great variety to choose from their menu and are often packed, so do book in advance. Parking is ample around the streets however one inconvenience is the lack of an elevator, which might not be accessible for the elderly etc. Iβve also added some videos from chinese new year where they often have the lion dance performance which is entertaining for all.

Lots of Cantonese people were here for yum cha, so my expectations were high. While the atmosphere was good, the dishes were mostly not. The har gao was fishy, mixed with bamboo and seemed off. The xiu mai was all tough pork. The xiao long bao was all meat and no soup. Taro pan fried cakes were super dry, and chinese donut rice rolls were flattened with too much soy sauce. The chicken feet were delicious though, the only standout dish. The pan fried chive cakes were alao good. The trolley service was also a bit pushy with some of the orders (like the drink cart and desserts) while having to request core dim sum dishes like har gow was a bit odd.

Food was average but quite expensive for the amount that you got on each plate. We ordered a starter and 3 dishes and paid $180β¦ way too expensive for the food we ate considering it wasnβt really that tasty. Service was fast and food came out quickly but this place is much better during their lunch service. Stay clear of their dinner.

Iβve had yumcha (dim sum) often in Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, San Francisco and New York. Outside of HK, this is easily the best or second best. Melbourne is up there too (see other reviews). Good sized portions and very reasonably priced with excellent service. The dishes are brought by wait staff on trays rather than pushed in carts so the pace is quick and food remains fresh. The photo shows 5 dishes. We also ordered a soup dumplings (they were huge, but not soupy enough!) and these were plenty for 2 pretty hungry people. We were a party of 2 and got in on a Saturday with 10 mins of opening without a booking. It started to fill up at 12 so definitely book ahead of coming around then or larger group. Will be coming back before leaving WLG to try dishes we didnβt have the space for this round!

4 stars, 5 stars for wellington standards. Most, 3/4 maybe, dishes were good (bit surprised as haven't been for years), good flavorsome taste and fresh. A few was average/poor, one they mixed some overnight ingredients with new ones which is s@$% (yes, I can tell the difference). Another dish the durian dumpling they cheated, filling is mostly cream, only some durian. Used too be all durian filling. And I thought what good value, so big, not fooling me again. The dishes ordered are not western favorites... Pricey too, $84 for 2 person!

2022: Arguably the best yum cha in Wellington. Been going here for over a decade, and it's been the most consistent on all levels.
