We were a table of 4 using the First Table App and ordered plates to share. Mexican Fried Chicken, Beetroot Tostada, Ceviche, Pork Belly bites, Loaded Nachos with some Churros and Banoffee Chimis for Desert. The chicken was so good we asked for a second plate! We had three Virgin Margaritas and a Frida Margarita. Everything came out quickly and was lovely. The service was very nice and the surroundings very Mexican. Savings were $88.00 and the bill $142.00. Would happily go back again.

We cannot get enough of this place, very well priced too. Always leave full and happy. Only disappointment is that they've removed the cheese dip and corn chip entree which was our favourite. Love the decor and the service is great even when very busy. Have tried a wide range of the meals and have loved every one of them. The margaritas are delicious too. Favourite restaurant by far.

Possibly under new ownership but I still highly rate this Mexican restaurant! We came for their 2025 WOAP burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also ordered from their usual menu the Flautas, Esquites, Horchata, and Churros. The only slightly disappointing thing was the churros were undercooked. Likely the oil was too hot and made them look crispy and done when they weren’t… otherwise a lovely meal with family and EXCELLENT service during a VERY busy time.

Genuinely felt conned out of my money. This was the least authentic Mexican food I’ve had in my life. The guacamole was too citrusy, and for $16 just felt ridiculous for the amount of corn chips received. The quesadillas I had were cold and the potatoes inside were undercooked. It had no flavour, and was filled with accompanied by cheese and peas. The horchata just tasted like milk. The taste needs major improvement. Overall, wouldn’t recommend. There are plenty of other tastier and more worthwhile places to eat.

I love their taco so much. Epically duck taco. Duck meat has its special flavor and the souse and veges in it make it very freshy and meaty. Duck taco is must try dish. And then we also had fried chicken taco, the souse is different. Each taco has its own flavor. Definitely will visit here again and try different tacos. The environment is very authentic. Love it!

I have visited Petone branch and the food, service, atmosphere all are 5 out of 5. Wellington Mexico on the other hand is no where near. It was very poor experience. The food, the service and the atmosphere. We took their deal that includes drink. We never got any drink. She didn't even ask what drink we wanted. Food was not great. We asked for hot sauces and she only had one option. I would not recommend for lunch for sure.

Having not had time to eat all day, I was looking for a place which food I would be sure to enjoy I searched online for such place located downtown, found this Mexican restaurant, and immediately decided to travel to it Good move! The place features very typical images on the walls. Having traveled and stayed in Mexico for 5 months, I was brought right there Music is really nice Lots of seats Very friendly and efficient staff And food is a fusion, bringing the best of both worlds They have different types of snacks & sides, tacos, quesadillas, and even desserts, and plenty of drinks to choose from, tequilas, magraritas, mezcal, liquors... I personally went for a "fried jackfruit con cola" taco, a "slow braised ancho & agave lamb shoulder" quesadilla, and a "pan fried broccoli florets" side (my favorite) As a drink, as I don't drink alcohol, I went for pineapple + strawberry soda And "cinnamon spiced churros" as a dessert I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the staff, and the location Oh, and they also have margarita workshops for groups of people who want to learn how to make them Highly recommended, "me encantΓ³"!

Really nice food but very small servings for the price. No good tables for couples and very noisy so hard to talk to each other. Staff were friendly and helpful. We got a Virgin Mango, Lime & Mint Margarita Carafe, Enchiladas/Tacos (with Impossible pork), Potato & Chickpea Masa Tacos, and Patatas Bravas all Vegan & GF. All delicious but small servings so recommend ordering double.

Had a highly underwhelming experience. We ordered off Uber eats and we were ripped off. We ordered the ceviche and the portion was minuscule compared to the $28.80 we paid for it. The fish was bland and more cooked than raw. The cherry tomatoes that it came with did not complement at all and along with the sauce made the abundance of flavours unsatisfactory. The guacamole was straight avocado with a touch of tomato, onion and coriander on the top. The portion size was again minuscule compared to the price and something a 6 year old could make. The beef pomegranate taco was a roti wrap filled with bland beef mince. The pomegranate was non existent which took away the flavour and made it nearly unbearable. The quesadilla was tasteless and the portion to price ratio was far off. The food was inedible and the portion sizes left me feeling obliged to make a complaint. I would not recommend, left me feeling empty and had to make another meal which was substantially better. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

I've been here a few times; staff are nice and friendly, but the lighting is a bit too dark. That makes the ambiance in Mexico Petone much better. Nonetheless, the food is really great; a wide variety of taco fillings!
