   We ordered a Choc slab as a celebration cake for our office. Service was great, delivered on time and well packed. We asked for writing on the cake and overall the look was underwhelming. Cake was dry and the ganache wasn't a dark rich ganache as seen on the website, more like a choc icing. The freeze dried toppings were dull. Good enough for an office morning tea shout, just not if you're looking to wow.

   Extremely disappointed with my recent experience. I ordered a 16-piece bonbon box as a gift, expecting 16 unique flavours and designs as clearly advertised on the website. Instead, four of the pieces were identical. When I raised the issue with customer service, I received a dismissive response with no real apology — just an excuse blaming Easter production constraints, which were never mentioned on the product page. To make things worse, they suggested returning the box, even though I had already sent it to my friend as a gift — which I clearly explained in my email, along with a photo showing the duplicates. They’ve since stopped responding entirely. What’s more frustrating is that after I pointed out their misleading description about “16 flavours,” they quietly changed the wording on the website without even responding to my email — instead of owning up to the mistake. I’ve ordered from them before and had a great experience, but after this, I’ll never buy from them again or recommend them to others. Very disappointing service and handling of a valid complaint.

   I ordered their most expensive $170 catering box of chocolates as a gift after looking at the advertised picture of 18 or so colourful flavours presented on trays. The delivered product was a cardboard box with loose chocolates of only 8 flavours, looking a little worn, and not suitable as a gift. Apparently the confusion over what was advertised vs. delivered was on me and they said I could buy more flavours and a box to put the chocolates on trays. A discount was mentioned if I wanted to buy another $160 gift box but they did not respond when I asked for the costs and I was later told the responsible team was very busy and it was no problem if I wanted to go somewhere else. My family had ordered from House of Chocolate in the past but we will rather try Makana, Bennetts or Devonport from now on.

   Delicious but weird how they only do takeaway, it's so unsustainable serving in boxes and takeaway cups when I am going to sit right outside and eat and it also detracts from the experience, esp when they are charging quite a bit edit: the store has replied that they do not provide in store seating, but this is disingenuous since you do provide seating right outside the store. I don't see the problem with writing a negative review if I had a negative experience and want to share it with others, you can't censor google reviews. The cost of a small cake and a coffee was about $13 from memory, and I'm made to sit outside and eat it out of a box in the seating right outside the store, because it costs too much to have cups and wash dishes? It costs money to pay for boxes and takeaway cups so I guess it depends on what you want to spend money on and what you care about.

   Bought 24 pieces "Award winning" box. Absolutely disappointed. Terrible chocolate, even worse fillings, no flavour what so ever and for 78$. You would be better of buying box of cocoa and chewing it by itself.

   House of Chocolate's Triple Celebration Cake is amazing. Beautiful looking and even more beautiful in the taste. Moist and has kept very well. Gorgeous checkered pattern inside cake. Sooo good.

   We received a box of chocolate bonbons as a gift. The packaging was pretty and the chocolates are beautiful to look at. However, they tasted average and very sugary. I accidentally had the bourbon butterscotch (was intending for the flight coffee but chose the wrong colour splat pattern), which was way too sweet for my liking. Since I picked the wrong chocolate, I realise I’m not the best judge of these. So I asked my colleagues who tried them and they all seemed rather indifferent. The feedback was “ok, but not wow” “not amazing” “they look nice though”.
