   Atrocious behaviour — worst experience ever We went to this café in the morning and ordered coffee. I wanted to get some water for my partner, and when I asked the staff member, he was rude from the start. He said, “Please sit in your place, I will get it for you,” in a very rude tone. After waiting for about five minutes, he still didn’t bring the water. My partner then went to the counter and politely asked him again. Instead of being kind , he said, “You have to learn to wait,” and claimed that he was the only person working in the café, which felt like an excuse. She didn’t want him to come serve us water so she went and asked where she can fill water instead of making him serve us water. I have been to many cafés where only one person is working, and they still manage to be kind, smile, and treat customers with respect. Unfortunately, this man showed no interest in providing basic customer service. This was a very disappointing experience and not the kind of welcome we expected. He was extremely rude, and sadly, he was the first person we encountered in New Zealand to treat us this way.

   The new go-to whenever we pass anywhere near Upper Hutt. Great crispy bacon open sandwich and big breakfast. Lovely staff, good coffee and much appreciated bottles of cold water on the table.

   Ordered an iced caramel latte which came to me tasting like a cup full of straight sugar. I asked if it could please be remade without the caramel as they had put way too much. I watched as my drink was emptied half way and then refilled with milk and returned to me.

   A unfortunately mixed experience. Had one of the best pieces of fish I can think of, followed by the worst cheesecake I’ve ever had. Not sure if it was just old or something, but it was weirdly gelatinous and unpleasant, also deceptively smaller than what it looked like I was going to get. I feel that it shouldn’t have been sold. Kinda made me feel slightly ill afterwards if I’m being honest. But at least the John Dory was great, along with great and fast service. Just had an unfortunately sour note to end on with that horrid cheesecake.

   Love the friendly & attentive staff here and the warm busy vibe. Great outdoor seating and plenty of awesome art on the walls inside. My favourite place in Upper Hutt for coffee (a large soy, extra shot, with a sweetner thank you!)

   Very nice cafe in central Main St, Upper Hutt. It has a good reasonably priced range of food and the service was professional, polite and friendly. Outdoor and indoor options, perfect for all weather and seasons. I would recommend.
