Ordering System They’ve switched to a printed menu where you tick the items and staff deliver them to the table. It’s efficient and worked smoothly during the visit. Food Quality Service was quick, and the steamed dumplings arrived fresh and hot, exactly how they should be. The egg tarts, however, were average: pale, dry, and lacking flavour. The standout dish was the eggplant stuffed with prawns, scallops dumplings, easily the highlight. Pricing Prices are on the higher side at $9+ per dish, with most plates offering only three pieces. Ambience & Service The place is packed and very popular, sometimes too busy. Booking is recommended. Staff are friendly, and the older lady working there is genuinely charming.

The food was good, but unfortunately the service let the experience down. The young lady at the reception was quite rude to us, which made us feel unwelcome. Even though we enjoyed the meal, we don’t plan to return.

We had an amazing experience at Pearl Garden. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed brunch or a casual catch-up with friends. The dim sum was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Service was prompt and friendly, with staff always ready to recommend something new to try. I also appreciated the variety of options for both traditional and modern tastes. Unlike the traditional approach where a cart is brought around, the ordering process is now more streamlined—you simply mark your selections on the menu, and everything will be served to you at once.

As soon as I walked into the restaurant, it felt like I had stepped into another country. The food was delicious, and the overall service was very satisfying. I think I’ll be coming back again.

The Yum Cha ordering system has changed since I last visited. You mark the items on a printed menu and then they deliver to you which seemed to work well. Food was delivered quickly and steamed dumplings were fresh and hot which is a must for me! The egg tarts were a bit blonde, dry and lacked flavour. Stand out dish was the eggplant stuffed with prawns. Prices are on the high side $9+ per dish and most had only 3 pieces. Recommend booking.

November 2022: Took parents here as they never been to this restaurant before. With paper menu, pricing is much more transparent. Food was good; although a prawn dumpling kinda tasted like it had a bit of detergent in it? The food arrives quite quickly. Staff present at the time were nice... 3 stars. January 2023: Much improved. Went here on weekend with 10 others and we paid $30each which was reasonable. I enjoyed all the dumplings, prawn on toast, sticky rice, and desserts. Everything is delicious. Just teapot needs to be filled up more often. 4 stars

Although the service, prices and ambiance were quite good at this restaurant, the food was only average. While they had a wide selection of dishes available, it felt less authentic than most Yum Cha and Dim Sum restaurants as they didn't come around with trays. Unfortunately, the food lacked flavor and didn't quite meet expectations.

One of the oldest Chinese restaurant in Auckland. Clean and cozy environment. Foods are good and friendly service. Reasonable price in Newmarket area.

We came from Hong Kong and we want to say it’s so good and even better than many of the dim sum places in Hong Kong! We traveled to NZ for vacation and saw many good reviews online for this place so we wanted to try how authentic the dim sum in Auckland can be. And it didn’t disappoint! We ordered turnip cake, siu mai, bbq pork rice roll, prawn toast, tripe. And everything tasted amazingly delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the portion was large! I had never seen a prawn toast with so much prawn paste! The price was very reasonable and we were very happy having such good quality and traditional dim sum while away from home.
