   Thanks your reply Vietnam waitress, after reading your response I also need to clarify a few points because your explanation does not reflect what actually happened. First, the issue with the dog was not an accident. You were the one who waved your friend over, and their dog came straight to our table and licked our food. No reasonable person would continue eating something a dog has licked. We only kept eating the other duck dish — I even have photos showing that half of the contaminated dish was left untouched. While we were clearly uncomfortable and had stopped eating, you stood next to our table chatting and laughing instead of checking on us. You also didn’t come over to ask whether we wanted dessert. When we tried to get your attention, you said “give me a few minutes,” but after serving another table, you turned to other customers and left us waiting. You mentioned that we said “it’s okay.”Of course we didn’t — because we were not okay. I never said “it’s okay”, probably it was after you said the Crepe dessert offered as compensation? A simple “sorry” is not enough in this situation. Any professional restaurant would have immediately offered to replace the dish or check on the guests. In your opinion you mentioned in your reply, so your logic is that because we didn’t ask, you didn’t need to come over and check on us? Are you saying that only customers who make a scene deserve basic respect and proper service? I have lived in New Zealand for 20 years and visited countless restaurants across the country. This was one of the most unprofessional service experiences I’ve encountered, and it unfortunately lowered the standard of the restaurant.

   ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely delightful experience at French Rendez-vous Restaurant! We loved every bit of our meal — the food was absolutely delicious and comforting. The galette with spinach and feta was perfectly done, beautifully savoury and crisp. The “Coin Coin” duck — one of their bestsellers — was exceptional: tender duck breast paired with pâté, rich sauces, a duck dumpling and even a duck spring roll — all perfectly balanced. I had the chef’s special eye fillet with potato rosti, and it instantly became my favourite — the steak cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the potato rosti rich, buttery and crisp. Oh, and the duck gnocchi — simply bravo! The restaurant’s location by Lake Pupuke makes the experience even more special. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to — highly recommended!

   Traveled from South Auckland to bring our son here for his birthday based off the great reviews and his love for crepes. Specifically only came for that one dish, the crepes, and man they didn't disappoint! The crepes were flavorful! Very tasty! Price is reasonable I spose. Service was great, She always had a smile, kept water topped up, greeted and farewells us. Made us feel comfortable being Hori's in a boujee environment lol Atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Beautiful view. Going back to try the meals on the menu. Highly recommended the crepes!!

   (Aug 2023) I have come to place multiple times with friends and family and every single time everyone was happy with the food and service. But this time was way below average. I think something has changed since then. Our pouched eggs were overcooked. They forgot my kid’s order and took a long time to bring her plate and guess what, it wasn’t her order. My friend’s mocha was way too hot (the milk was literally cooked). They even messed up with my coffee order and gave me cappuccino with regular milk while I ordered soy. Not so good this time really.

   Lovely location next to the lake. Happy with service and quality of food. Really delicious honey lemon and ginger tea! Ordered prawn fritters. Nicely cooked and the prawns were a great size. Not really what I would consider a fritter to be, they were like battered deep fried prawns. Were nice just not what I was expecting. Really nice crepes.

   The quality of the food is very good, as the location and presentation of the dishes. However the buckwheat pancakes don't taste good, normal pancakes would have been a lot nicer, and portion sizes are quite small for the price. I'd recommend going somewhere else in Takapuna in the future.

   Lovely lovely lovely The food were amazing, desert were yum cozy and warm feeling. Great view and kid’s friendly too. Loved it and would sure go again. Their brunch menus is classic menu although served on a crepe type of base which made is super. Light and feeling and delicious. Booking is easy online. Very great staff, order came very fast and all together although we were around 12 people. Tick all the boxes for me.ttxx
