All you can eat for $49.99 is great value, photo is showing a plate of 4 portion of wagyu beef tataki and we had 10 portions! Kaarage chicken is very juicy and yummy, dishes are made to order, order up to 5 portions per dish each time, as much as you can eat within 1 hour, there are many other dishes to choose from and they are all nice, good service, friendly and food comes out in good pace and good portion, will be back!

Food Wagyu beef was a bit chewy – not the best quality. Veggies were fresh and had a nice crunch on the outside. Portion size was generous. Service Staff were friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere The place had good vibes and a relaxed feel. Clean and tidy environment. Value Worth the money for what you get.

Had dinner here through First Table! Staff were very polite and we had no issues with getting food and drink in a timely manner. The food was lovely as well! We ordered the Karaage Burger and Samurai Burger with fries and both were very tasty. Buns were soft and the meat and condiments were flavourful. Fries were also great with the nori seasoning that matched well with the natural flavours. Dessert was a nice simple option of a nut-flavoured ice cream which was not too sweet and a refreshing finish to the meal. Simple aesthetic and loved how it wasn't too busy on a Wednesday night. The First Table deal made it even more worth it, recommend!

This place is a gem. We ordered share plates (edamame, chicken katsu, tempura veges and okinomiyaki) followed by Japanese ice cream. All were prepared very nicely and were delicious. Service was efficient and friendly even though the hard working staff were quite busy. The whole place reminded us of small restaurants in Japan. We wish there was somewhere similar near where we live.

We went to Mad Samurai on a Saturday night. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, but the food was a real mixture. My husband's tap beer was off, and undrinkable, but to their credit the staff immediately replaced it with a different beer. The agedashi tofu was delicious, as was the tempura. However, my daughter's avocado and cucumber sushi was inedible, the avocado was almost entirely brown, which was obvious because it was laid in top of the sushi, not rolled up in it. The edamame were undercooked, meaning a lot of them wouldn't pop out of their shells and felt semi-frozen. We didn't bring up these issues at the time, we didn't want them to remake it. We won't be going back.

Trying to figure out where to eat and just happened to stumble onto this place on a Friday evening. SO glad we did because the food and entire experience was incredible. First of all it was tucked back in Snickel Lane and was considerably less crowded than many of the other restaurants we popped into, so we were able to sit immediately and order drinks. I ordered the BRB Hazy Pale Ale - not totally sure if it was the frosty glass or the beer itself but this was by far the best beer I had anywhere in Australia OR New Zealand. We jumped into food with the edamame- again, not sure what was going on here but this is the best edamame I’ve had in a long time. It was just steamed and seasoned with salt per usual, but something about the edamame beans themselves had so much more flavor than I’ve ever had. For the main course I had the on special Pork Katsu and my partner had the Wayu Black Burger. You can see from the pictures that the burger was just insane. Recently read a β€œbest burgers in Auckland” post and they’re definitely missing this one!! The Pork Katsu also came with steamed rice and miso soup and was overall just DELIGHTFUL. On top of everything the small staff of 3 running the place were lovely. Seriously go here- you won’t be disappointed.

Really liked the sake tasting and the Samurai platter was really good with the mix of waguy and pork.

Best Japanese restaurant we had in Auckland. The food is delicious and they are even offering delivery services now! The experience we had at the restaurant has always been awesome. The home delivery option was perfect, the only thing missing was the lovely staff ;)
