   I would like to give some constructive feedback that will hopefully help the venue succeed. There is a lot of potential. 1. I specified in the booking that we were celebrating an occasion, despite the restaurant being rather quiet no effort was made in this regard - fine, not unusual, but would have helped create more vibe! 2. Even though we booked and were expected, our table was not set - we had to ask for chopsticks, napkins and plates. 3. We had to ask for water, despite having ordered and received food and alcoholic beverages 4. The two wait staff who were on seemed preoccupied with receiving and storing stock 5. The music kept stopping and the atmosphere was very sterile 6. One of the wait staff didn’t understand English very well, some of the items we ordered were missed and the service was slightly below average. We had to get their attention every time we needed something. It was NOT busy! 7. The service seemed to lack any humanness, I can’t put my finger on it, but it was just ticking a box, there was no “hospitality” as such All in all, it was a disappointing experience, I kept apologising to my husband for a fail at dining him out for his birthday!

   A best kept secret, don't be fooled by the simplistic first impressions of the menu. We have been here a few times and never been disappointed. The food is delicious, well priced for the portion sizes. Always fresh and beautifully presented. Cater for GF with GF dedicated menu and GF Soy Sauce made ordering very easy, lots to pick from. 10/10 for Japanese food Atmosphere is pretty authentic not refined but comfortable

   Our absolute favorite Japanese restaurant and probably our favorite restaurant period! Food here is amazing, extremely fresh, and wonderfully presented. Portions are also very generous as other reviewers have mentioned so be careful not to order too much. Between the quality and the generous portions you absolutely get value for money here, unlike some similar fine dining restaurants in the area. Staff are also lovely - we come here probably too often but the staff are nothing but gracious and friendly, and even remember how we like our food ☺️ Zen is definitely a must for celebrations as well as just a treat now and then. They have also been very accommodating when we’ve brought vegan guests. Photos are from several different visits

   Absolutely DELICIOUS! Food was amazing and seafood was incredibly fresh. Oysters are very big and fresh too! Service is 10/10 - husband came late and they replaced his miso soup with a warm and fresh one when he arrived :) Very caring people, food came quickly as well despite it being a weekend.

   The best dining experiences we have in New Zealand; even better than some of the fine dining in Melbourne. Everything was amazing with attention to details. The customer service was above and beyond. The staff were warm, friendly and very considerate. Every dish was plated so beautifully and tasted just as delicious as it looked. Especially the sashimi and Aburi nigiri, great value for its high quality.

   A wonderful dinner experience with my wife who had her birthday. Lovely atmosphere and private table. A bit pricy but the delicious food and lovely presentatiin and setting was worth it. Top notch Japanese food.
