very disappointed with food tonight. very average with few pieces of chicken thrown on 2 tortillas with onions and bit of tomato.no sauce or guacamole. ... we were advised menu has been changed . we were there just about 4 to 6 wks back n food drinks service all outstanding hence we decided to go again tonight. Although restaurant was not busy we had to help ourselves with cutlery and napkins. we ordered 2 dishes and decided not to order any more. picked a pizza on our way back home. Not recommended n not worth your money

I visited De Nada | Mexican Eatery & Tequila Bar (2/476 Mount Eden Road, Mount Eden, Auckland) for an early dinner recently, and overall it was a pleasant experience with a few things worth noting. Arriving early meant parking was not a problem at all, which is always a relief in Mount Eden. At that time there were no other customers in the restaurant, so the atmosphere was very quiet and relaxed. This gave us the chance to take our time looking through the menu and soaking in the vibe of the place. We don’t usually eat Mexican food very often, so this was a bit of an adventure for us. The first thing I noticed was that the drinks menu was actually larger than the food menu, which suggests that this place is just as much about the tequila and cocktails as it is about the food. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was impressively fast. In fact, the food came out within about five minutes of ordering. While that speed is convenient, it did make me wonder whether some of the dishes might have been premade. Still, everything arrived hot and nicely presented. The portion sizes, however, were relatively small. For someone young or with a big appetite looking for a filling lunch or dinner, this probably isn’t the place to come if you expect large plates. That said, the food itself was tasty — the flavours were fresh and enjoyable, and the cocktail we tried was also very good. It’s clear that the bar side of the business is a strong focus, and they do it well. Overall, I would describe De Nada as a cosy spot with friendly service, quick delivery, and yummy food, but the smaller portion sizes hold it back from being a five-star experience for me. I’m giving it four stars because while the taste and service were excellent, I left feeling that the value could be improved with slightly larger servings. I genuinely hope this restaurant can hold on and continue to grow, because it has a lot of potential. It’s a nice addition to Mount Eden, and I’d love to see it thrive. With a bit more balance between portion size and price, I think it could become a go-to spot for people wanting to enjoy Mexican flavours paired with great cocktails.

Well priced and very flavoursome cocktails, we had steak Burria taco and nachos. The nachos should be tried, the liquid queso was delicious and lots of flavour. Will come back

De Nada is one of the newer places in Mt Eden village so we decided to go there for dinner. We did book beforehand which was a good idea since it got packed. The menu had a range of interesting Mexican items (food and drinks) and they also had specials of the day. We started with the corn chips and they were really good. Proper corn chips with nice salsa and dips. It gave us time to pick drinks and I went with the coconut meal mojito. It did have a nice coconut flavour and was quite refreshing. We grabbed a series of different items to share. I quite liked the prawn tacos and the carne de vaca. They had a really nice flavour and the taco was quite refreshing. The pork rib birra taco was also nice and the tortilla was cooked over the hot plate so it had a nice crunch to it. The chorizo nacho and chimichangas were ok. I was looking forward to the desserts, particularly the tres leches cake. The cake and the churros were quite nice. I was a bit disappointed with the flan since the texture was quite grainy, almost like it was overcooked. I can see why it does get busy because the food is quite nice and the drink options were quite interesting. They do have indoor and outdoor tables and both were quite busy for most of the night. it was a really nice place for tasty Mexcian food, although I can't comment on the "authenticity".

Very bland and flavorless. Had the pork and steak tacos. Both were very bland and need more flavor. They come with a sauce which is spicy, but unless you add the sauce there is nothing to them. Was hoping this would be my new local, but won't be returning unless the menu is improved.

They've made a good effort with this place and it (sort of) works. The food is tasty though a bit samey and menu quite limited. Really nice cocktails and decor, and very impressed by our waitress who seemed massively overworked but still provided friendly and efficient service. They were definitely under -staffed though that's not their fault.

What a great experience, really good quality, fresh, tasty food. I couldn’t fault anything, recommendations from the waitress were perfect. I would never have normally ordered Nacho’s,l but she recommended, they were so good and different to the normal ‘kiwi’ version. Everything (we got a lot of different food) was easily able to be shared by 4 or could have ordered our own if wanted to. Overall was $60 each, for lots of meals (with food left over) and 2 or 3 drinks each. It was easily good value for money. Atmosphere is good also, we had a booked table waiting but otherwise was packed. I’d recommend booking as was consistently popular throughout the time we were there.
