Food tastes great and excellent presentation as you can see from the photos. We ordered the 8 courses tasting menu but thought afterwords the two extra courses for extra NZ$40 was not worth it. Recommend anyone thinking to try the tasting menu to go for the 6 courses instead.

Absolutely magical! From the movement we walked in the door it was an amazing experience, every single member of the team makes you feel at home . Instead of matching wines I tried every single cocktail in the menu and it was an adventure that I want to repeat multiple times over . The legend who was making these did it with so much care and energy . The food of course was epic . Every single meal was signature Sid , beautiful ingredients presented and cooked with perfection in mind . I almost cried when the pre desert came out and the rock fort ice cream touched my taste buds . This was a dish from Sidart that made us worship this culinary genius and to taste it again was a Time Machine back flashing with so many amazing memories . Thank you to your creative crew who tirelessly worked tonight to share the love of food and outstanding talent with everyone who dined . What a way to end 2025 . We canβt wait to share another special night with you in 2026 words canβt even come close to the memories we made tonight and the journey you took us on . Thank you from us and we wish you a merry Xmas and epic new year .

Thank you to everyone at The French CafΓ©, we had an exceptional experience tonight. The tasting menu was beautifully curated, with each course showing real balance, technique, and attention to detail. The flavour progression was thoughtful, and the textures and plating were stunning. The teamβs knowledge of both food and wine really elevated the evening β their pairings were on point and added layers to each dish that I wouldnβt have appreciated otherwise. We also enjoyed some truly impressive cocktails, crafted with precision and a great understanding of flavour. Thank you for making our night genuinely unforgettable. A memorable dining experience from start to finish!!!@

The venue is nice and well designed. However I expected a little bit more attention from the person sitting us at the table. I was struggling with the chair and the person just stood there and didnβt offer any help. When I finally sat down he just dropped the drink menu on the table and departed. Maybe this was just us, because later he gave full attention to the next couple that arrived. On the other hand our waitress was a delightful young lady, who gave us her full attention. Maybe just a little minus for informing us not to try to eat the beans which were just decoration and we could see that ourselves. Drinks were delicious, my Negroni tasted just right. One small point is that I like Negroni with big square ice cube, instead of crushed ice and with dried orange not a slice of orange, but that is just my preference. Now the dinner: best was Roquefort ice cream. The beef was very tough. I know this part of the beef is hard to cook, so maybe different part should be selected. Something less challenging. We travel a lot a dine in many top quality restaurants, including many with Michelin Stars designation Overall we are a bit disappointed.

Had a very average experience here many years ago, but decided to try it again. Very impressed. The menus was playful and fun. Very kiwi twist on things. Staff were knowledgeable and playful. Highly recommended.

A wonderful experience from start to finish - we all greatly enjoyed our Saturday champagne lunch here. Warm and personable greeting at the door from FOH, followed by a brief tour of their impressive premises before being escorted to our table. Every course was creative and interesting, but most importantly delicious. Great wines too, and impeccable service. Difficult to fault and we look forward to returning!

If you're looking for a dining experience that's both elegant and delicious, look no further than Sid at the French Cafe! I had the pleasure of attending a fundraising event at this fine establishment, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to top-notch service and delectable cuisine. We started off with a welcome cocktail and a selection of canapes, all of which were delightful. But that was just the beginning. As we were ushered inside to our tables, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we would be dining with other couples and groups. This added a fun, social element to the evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our fellow diners. And then there was the food. Each course was a masterpiece, expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The Farmed kingfish with miso emulsion, smoked scallop, smoked eel pearls, sweetcorn, lemon myrtle, and finger lime was a standout, as was the Hapuka with crayfish beignets, dry mangosteen, soy jelly, perilla leaf, and pickled onion. And the Wagyu short rib with truffle custard, grilled leek, and macadamia sorrel was nothing short of divine. But let's not forget about dessert. The Chocolate, banana and cardamom parfait, whipped chocolate, blueberry, and elderflower was the perfect end to an incredible meal. Overall, I can't recommend Sid at the French Cafe highly enough. The food is of the highest quality, both in ingredients and presentation, and the taste is simply out of this world. So if you're in the mood for something a little fancier than your usual dining experience, be sure to give Sid at the French Cafe a try. You won't be disappointed! Oh and sorry about the lack of photos, I was caught up in the experience.

Impeccable service. Very good cocktails. We chose to go for three courses. Beef tartare was memorable with a twist. Our mains were slightly underwhelming but tasty. Desserts were probably the highlight and saving grace of our meal. A wonderful end to dinner.
