   My niece went home very sad and upset on Friday after a lesson with her new teacher Simon Russo (they have had so many different teachers this year, we have lost count). My sister emailed Rob on Saturday about her concerns regarding Simon and he replied suggesting they talk on the phone on Monday. During the call, Rob told my sister that over the weekend, he was contacted by numerous other families who had praised Simon Russo for his first lesson with students. Rob then placed the blame on my 7 and 8 year old nieces, cancelled all their lessons and ended the call. I find it very hard to believe that over the course of 1.5 days on a sunny weekend, several families took time out to contact Rob just to randomly praise Simon? Even more absurd, my sister had previously spoken to other families of the academy who shared the same discernment over their past teachers, but Rob stated the opposite? None of the statements Rob made to my sister were emailed as he obviously did not want them recorded in writing. Requesting a phone call was a cunning and deceptive move and shows the sheer lack of integrity of both Rob as the owner and also of the business that he runs.

   My granddaughter’s lessons were cancelled by Rob in retaliation to their mother raising a concern over a Napier Music Academy teacher’s questionable manner of teaching. Rob has used my grandchildren’s behaviour as the excuse. This is not the only extra-curricular activity my grandchildren participate in, and there have been nil concerns from school or any other organisation about their participation in activities. Shame on you Rob! Take ownership of your staff’s actions and act accordingly instead of sweeping problems under the rug. All caring parents beware of NMA.

   My kids were being swapped to a new teacher every term - high staff turnover, no stability for the kids and very disruptive to their learning. Most of the teachers that Rob brings in are totally unequipped to handle children in a group setting and are quick to become angry, impatient and unkind. Their solutions are to end the lesson abruptly or cancel your child’s enrolment (done over the phone to avoid accountability). Rob will not accept any responsibility for the poor conduct of his teachers if he knows them on a personal level, blurring the lines of his professionalism as a managing director. I do not recommend this business, save yourself the hassle and go private instead.
