Unique spot known for its seasonal menu that changes daily and delicious slow-cooked food. They have a hot cabinet with various options, you simply choose a plate size and tell them what you want from the hot dishes and fresh salads. Excellent value for the quality of food you get. It’s also great for takeaway, as the packaging is compact and convenient. Loved it!

I was eyeing this shop the whole time at wanaka as the way how they serve the food was interesting concept here. You get to choose from 3 kinds of plate size and each plate also you various options. Small - 4 options $17 Medium - 5 options $24 Large - 6 options $31 You get to choose 1 meat and then salad and vegetables, very vegetarian friendly too! We got the meat balls and grilled chicken and I must say the vege selection impressed me, the grilled broccoli has to be the crowd favorite as everyone ordered that and it did not disappoint at all, chargrilled to perfection, drizzle with some harissa yogurt dressing it was heavenly. Carrots was flavorful and sweet, they also have pilaf rice, chickpea stew and grilled potatoes to choose from. While the salad sides were awesome too, love the broccoli salad (didn’t know you can eat raw broccoli this way too!) chick pea salad w celery and apple carrot slaw just tasted so tangy and great with the meat and hot vege dishes. We opt to bring our food to the lake just right opposite where there are loads of seatings or just like us sit on the grass while soaking in the vibes. Beware of the seagulls and ducks coz they get close to you fast! Have a gelato ice cream right after it and it is a perfect meal with perfect scenery looking at lake wanaka.

Absolutely love this place. Have come for multiple breakfasts and a dinner. A simple gozleme (try the egg or harissa chicken!) is a cheap breakfast that's so delicious. Their bread is made by hand everyday. Good coffee as well! A medium dinner plate between two of one meat (beef cheeks!!) and four veggies/salads, with some fresh pita bread and hummus was enough and great value. Can't rate this place more. It's just the kinda place you wanna come back to again and again.

I love this concept. The food was delicious, and being able to construct the perfect meal was such a treat. I only eat small portions, so had the chicken and one serving of kumara gratin (so good!) for dinner, and asked for a double serve of lentils in a takeaway container to hang for breakfast. Lovely service. Beautiful kai. Will priced and accommodating :) Oh, and the sticky date pudding - it was outrageous in its glory! Abd soda water on tap :)

A truly remarkable restaurant in the area! The restaurant is situated right by the lake, and the panoramic view there is simply breathtaking. Their wide selection of diverse and unique salads undoubtedly adds a refreshing twist to New Zealand cuisine. In addition to the delicious salads, they offer delectable seafood dishes with Mediterranean influences. The service is self-service.

Love Big Fig, the home cooked style food is absolutely flavoursome! The pomegranate slow cooked beef cheeks are amazing! The sides are super tasty, making you want more. When I'm in Wanaka, this is one of the places I live to visit frequently.

Brilliant place that gives epic potluck dinner vibes. Great options that not only taste great but are nutritious which can be hard to find while travelling. I’d highly recommend stopping in. We’ll definitely be back. Edit: we’ve been back! Had breakfast this time and it was again utterly delicious.

Assembly line food service that has really tasty options. You pick a plate size, then you get 1 meat item and up to 5 other sides for the large, 4 for the medium and 3 for the small. The beef cheeks were great. All the sides are wonderful. A vegetarian would be happy eating here.
