This has to be one of the best fish and chips shops I've tried so far. Chips are still from a bag and not hand cut but the fish I watched them batter and fry as they were going and the tartar sauce was great too. Most definitely be coming back here!!!
Hidden gem for fish and chips. Lightly battered and crisp chips. Definitely worth a stop if you travel to or from Dunedin - Catlins area
I think this little gem might be the best fish and chips we’ve had since moving here! So happy this is our ‘local chippy’. Portions are perfect and the fish is always so fresh. Chips are delicious too. Love how the salt is in packets so you can add your own to your own taste.
Usually has a large variety of options in the display, some of the items have been out of stock for a large period of time when i have arrived, however it could be the time of day. availability etc. Portion sizes are good, cooking and sizes are consistent. Abit more pricey in comparison to your average fish and chip shop however Waihola Fish and Chips quality, in my opinion, is worth the price. Staff are professional and time efficient. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic Fish ‘n Chips. We had the Blue Cod and a scoop of chips, fish was of a good size and well cooked. Price was reasonable especially when comparing to a restaurant and honestly I would prefer this over a restaurant as we were able to eat at one of the picnic tables down by the lake.
Best fish cooked from fresh. Try the sole filled in batter, yum! The chips are also great, not too dry. Very clean premises and nice staff.
Atmosphere I starred as 5 because it is what it is, a small seafood takeaway. BUT it has 5 starred fresh fish and deliciously light crispy batter. Recommend +++
Chips are always nice and hot and super crisp, and they give you salt packets instead of salting the chips for you so you can put on as much or as little as you like. The pieces of fish aren't overly large but they are fresh and very nicely cooked which more than makes up for it.
It's a takeaway, so atmosphere is what you'd expect. Food was great... we had blue cod and chips. Love that they had the option of a lemon as well as sauces for your fish n chips. Super fresh..
