   We stayed at the Apple Inn Motel in Hastings for 2 nights over the Christmas–New Year period while attending a funeral in Hawke’s Bay. With everything booked out and only 1 day to organise our accommodation our options were extremely limited. The only room the Apple Inn had available was a studio, which wouldn't have been our first choice, but we had little alternative. On the positive side, the motel was exceptionally cheap, especially given the time of year. The Wi-Fi was excellent and completely free, which was a pleasant surprise. The lady at reception was absolutely lovely - very friendly, welcoming, and more than happy to help. Don’t be put off by some of the low reviews here. The Apple Inn is an underrated rough diamond that offers outstanding value for money, particularly if you’re looking for something affordable and practical during a busy period.

   Noticeable smell when we entered the room. After the first night, we experienced itchiness, skin irritation, and bite-like marks. We reported this the next day, but staff put the blame to our dog. This explanation is unlikely, as we had stayed in two other hotels before this one, shared the same car, and had no symptoms. After the room was treated that day, no further issues occurred. I do not recommend this place if you want to risk getting bitten and dealing with ongoing itching from existing bites overnight.

   This place was not great at all. The rugs stink and were dirty, it's like it has never been cleaned or wven vacuumed. The smell was horrible, the stove was still dirty and even the pillows stained. Would not recommend at all.

   Only good thing is it is cheap! Curtains are paper thin so is bright all night from the light outside your room. Shower moldy, paint flaking. Can hear people talking next door clear as day. Spend the extra $30 a night and stay somewhere half decent!

   I booked online to stay for a night with my husband and Aunty who came from America. We took the keys and entered the room. The room had a very unpleasant smell and the looked dirty. Went to the reception and complained. There was two Indian ladies sitting at the reception and asked what we did not like we told her the place was dirty. We took our things and booked ourself in a different apartment. We did not get a refund also the indian ladies were very rude. I don't recommend any one to stay there. Filthy place.

   Lounge chair had a big stain and rips on it… bed was uncomfortable.. no sky.. ‘smoke’ door outside banged loudly waking you up … no lighting on stairwell

   This place was very full with seasonal workers. The pool was dirty the wifi wasn't great. If you like hard uncomfortable beds that are hard to sleep on then this is the place for you. Very close to the iner city which is one great thing.

   Good location, if you're visiting but the rooms, well, you get what you pay for, clean towels and cutlery etc. But, very dated and poorly maintained, not totally clean, carpets are raggedy and the beds are well used to say the least, also unfortunately for us our fridge didn't work in our room and it was one of the hottest days so couldn't keep anything cold, they do not have A/C or even supply a fan for the room so it was off to Kmart which is conveniently close by. Service was only available during 2-5pm, the pool is OK for a dip but the outside areas again could do with a tidy up.

   What the actual hell have i walked into, Its absolutely filthy and lots of bugs, people party all night and young children crying and yelling at 11pm outside while there parents drink. No fan or aircon had to go to Kmart at 10pm , cheap and nasty place for the ferrel. Never again. We stayed in apartment 8.

   Very run down. Cleaning regime needs upgrading. Black mould in the shower. Dripping taps in the kitchen. Surrounds generally unkempt. Pool supposedly swimmable, but black areas on the bottom of the pool not a welcoming sight. Overall, very disappointing.
