I booked a surf class with them in April and they cancelled the class on that same morning via email. I have asked for a refund and have sent already several mails, but have received no response and no refund. It's been 2 months already. Do not book with them - they are not reliable and you might lose your money!
I did my fist surf lesson today with them. The guys were kind and nice. I did my lesson with Leon and it was absolutely the best experience I have done here in New Zealand. Leon was the best instructor, nice, really prepared and always checking on me. I highly recommend this experience, especially with them !!
Called over 5 times. Went to their van. Called again! No answer! No return call! Now I'm glad they didn't answer Just finished a lesson in Kakanui with a wholesome school. Save me your time, come to learn to surf Kakanui
We booked a private lesson the evening before, and everything went smoothly. Our coach, Hamish, was fantastic β super nice and chill. He tailored the lesson to our experience level, making it a fun and enjoyable experience. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot!
Isaac was really great at communciating with us about the possible dates/times that we could get out surfing, due to the weather. When we got out there, we had an amazing time on the waves with him - he was super friendly and enthusiastic. We were complete beginners and he catered to our ability perfectly. Would 100% recommend and go back if we're ever visiting again. Really great value for money - best thing we did in Dunedin! Thanks again for fitting us in :)
Booked and pre-paid for a surfboard hire, but they never showed up. It seems my experience is not unique, wish I'd checked the Google reviews first. I showed up at my rental time and there was nobody at the van, but there was a sign in the window saying that they were open. I was there with a friend who had their on gear, so my friend went surfing while I called the number on the van. Over the next hour I called them no less than 19 times, emailed them and texted them, but no response. I just sat there and watched my friend surf. That evening I got a text saying that they hadn't checked their bookings and did I want to come back another day. Unfortunately I had left Duneidn that evening, so I couldn't. They didn't offer me a refund either, but I got one eventually through the bank. This was extremely disappointing. I had really been looking forward to trying out surfing in Dunedin and it looked like a great day. I only had a short visit so it was annoying to waste an afternoon like this.
I had a group surf lesson with Jess and she was so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I managed to stand up on my board within the first lesson and now Iβm hooked! The owner is also really helpful and I defiantly recommend giving these guys a go :)
Messed me about really. I was told someone would be there for equipment hire but no one showed up. Hydro is a little pricier as their shortest hire is 3 hours, but they are reliable and have a good board selection. Would recommend going there instead!
They didn't show despite me booking and pre-paying NZD$120 for a private surf lesson. I had been super excited for the chance to get a lesson for improving while back home in Dunedin, and even asked if I could get another lesson since they didn't show initially. They then didn't respond for four days, and even then only a text message saying 'sorry' (that's it). In the end I had to make a dispute with the bank to chase for refund, which I did eventually get. Would not recommend. A real shame, they are the only surf school in Dunedin and some people have reviewed them well for their teaching. I regret not checking Google Reviews first though, as apparently this is not the first time they have not shown for private lessons. I would hope they would be much better at running their business.
