   My border collie has been going to Laundromutt for many years, and Jim has always treated him with genuine care and compassion. Zeus is now 15 and at a stage where he gets tired easily and can’t stand for long periods. During his most recent groom, Jim noticed halfway through that Zeus had had enough. He rang me straight away and kindly offered to finish the groom on Saturday at no extra cost. I always appreciate how Jim always puts the dog’s best interests and wellbeing first. Thank you Jim, I hope you have a lovely holiday break.

   Very rude experience on the phone. His response is classic baby boomer :) And I think there must have been more than one incident that day. Have a lovely trip to Aussie, A bit of R&R is always nice.

   Not a pleasant experience dealing with Jim Westwood, the owner. Like a lot of the other reviews on here, I was blown away by the way he feels he can talk to people, and the opinion that he knows best, and all the excuses he has that everything is the owners neglect or fault, never once saying sorry that I hurt your dog. Like many other dog owners reviews on here he has cut nails too short to the point of bleeding and pain, with his excuse being that the vet is wrong on how to treat them, and to change vets if that's the advice they give to cut down past the cuticle/quick, not into it. We cancelled one appointment when the very talented and amicable girl wasn't there (with a full days notice), as it seems he's not a likeable person, with even the dog being terrified of going to him. We decided to give him another go, but was worse this time. He offered to never do work for us again, which was the foregone conclusion anyway. And before I get accused of being a keyboard warrior, I went to talk to him civilly about this first, and I didn't ask for a refund, an apology would have sufficed. That conversation went nowhere fast, and its all our fault, and the vet is wrong, and I have many happy customers, etc. I'm sure somewhere in Jim is a kind and caring person, with the knowledge of speaking to people (especially customers) nicely, and not hurting dogs, but its pretty well hidden.

   Really poor service, nothing worse than dog snobbery, I payed $90 to get my dog groomed, not judged. My dog is 10 years old, and never have I experienced treatment like that. Would absolutely not recommend these people.

   Yesterday we took our Springer Spaniel, Wilson into Laundromutt for a routine groom where he got his claws trimmed also. We could not have been more unhappy with the damage they caused poor Wilson or also with the poor customer service afterwards. The groomer cut Wilson’s claws far too short which caused them to bleed profusely both while at the groomers and for a long period after he got home. We were not informed that he had bled there which was a gross misconception on their part and led to further damage being caused when we took him to the beach. The owner, Jim informed me that bleeding like this “routinely happens” at Laundromutt which is extremely concerning when you put your loved animal into a strangers care. Jim hung up on both me and my brother four times total when we tried to get a refund so we had to get the SPCA involved since he is treating animals so poorly on a “routine” basis according to Jim (the owner of Laundromutt). Jim could not have been more rude to us throughout this whole process and has left me very concerned about other animals that go there. After speaking to friends about this groomer also, we have been told that they have a bad reputation around Dunedin for dogs running away from here. NEVER send your dog here!! Please find another, more professional company where you can actually trust they will look after your much loved pet and stay far away from Laundromutt. Also note that two of the reviews of this groomer giving him five stars is the owner... if they were actually a good groomer I don't think they would need to do this.
