We were only here for 1 night, but the owner John made us feel so welcome. The rooms were very well maintained and the rooms and toilets were very clean too. I really enjoyed feeding the alpacas and sheep, it was a really lovely experience and John told us more about the sheep and alpacas! The alpacas and sheep are friendly! His warm presence and friendliness really made our stay here at Hunters Moon worth it. I would definitely choose to come back here if I ever come back to New Zealand (Dunedin) next time. Overall, I had a very comfortable and enjoyable time here. If you are coming to Dunedin, you should definitely check out Hunters Moon before booking another accommodation!
Wonderful stay – highly recommended! We had an excellent experience at Hunters Moon. John was incredibly helpful with our booking and communication, even though he was away at the time. He made everything easy and smooth right from the start. When we arrived, André was onsite and looked after us beautifully. He was warm, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. The farmstay is peaceful, very clean, and perfect for families. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and the whole property is well cared for. A big thank you to both John and André for such a lovely stay. We would definitely come back again☺️
John is a fantastic host. Prepared for everything. We stayed during the oct 25 storm, power outage on most of the south island , but John has solar power, batteries and a diesel generator. Wifi was up and running the whole time. Hunters Moon is a fantastic retreat. If we ever return to NZ we know where to stay.
We had a great experience here that we will definitely recommend people to go. Clean room, comfy beds and sofa, well organized kitchen area. John is so friendly and always would like to show you how to feed the sheep and alpaca. Not far away from Dunedin and we will stay there again if going down. ❤️
Stayed at Hunters Moon over Easter for our car show and they couldn't be more helpful including dropping us off at our required venues etc. The rooms were well presented and very tidy too.

Hunters Moon was a lovely and peaceful place to stay. John made us feel at home, and welcome to this warm, inviting place. Mosgiel is minutes from Dunedin, and a charming town. If we're fortunate enough to return to Mosgiel and Dunedin, we plan to stay at Hunters Moon.
