   I have had many good and helpful experiences at the Gilmours Pharmacy and their lovely staff. However, the last three times, I have been attended to by the female pharmacist/owner it has been extremely unpleasant with a rude and superior attitude from the pharmacist. I notice several others saying something similar in their reviews. I am puzzled by Gilmours' response, which always seems to be defensive around them having to enforce mask wearing and the staff being stressed (during COVID). Nowhere - as in nowhere - do I see a hint of an apology or any acknowledgement that maybe we customers may have a point. Kindness, patience and humility goes such a long way..

   Beautiful shop, but a shame that mask exemptions are not accepted here and staff very rude about it too. People have medical reasons for not being able to wear one, so renders this pharmacy useless for exemption holders. Lucky we have 2 other pharmacies in Havelock benefiting from the discriminatory measures put in place there. I will never shop there again, as the experience I had there made me feel humiliated.

   After recently moving and Gilmours becoming my regular pharmacy I could not be more pleased with the service. All of the staff are so welcoming and helpful, the main pharmacist Liz goes above and beyond, taking the time to talk through any concerns. I really appreciate the genuine care the team at Gilmours has and would recommend them to anyone, especially those who frequent the pharmacy.

   For such a beautiful store, you think the staff would be better versed in customer service. There’s no warmth - I found the pharmacist downright rude and dismissive when consulting her about a pharmacist only medicine. To top things off, the blatant discrimination against customers with medical mask exemptions is unacceptable and unlawful. With many other more hospitable pharmacies in Hawke’s Bay, I and many others will be taking our business elsewhere in future. People talk - and bad service speaks volumes.
