Good cut and colour, kind and helpful staff. BUT they charge $50 for drying your hair. This is not a blowwave ($55) but simply to put a hair dryer on your hair for 5 minutes, something you could do yourself. This charge is not written anywhere on their website or their list of fees at the salon and you are not told about it. I only know because I queried why my fee was $50 more than expected. They tried to claim that I was actually getting a discount since a blowwave is $55, despite saying outright that the $50 was for a blowdry (completely different services). Since you can't leave without having your hair dried (to see the colour properly and as their policy), it seems to be a hidden charge. Maybe other hair dressers do this, but I had never come across it before and it seemed deceptive to me. It makes me unlikely to return here, which is a shame because the service they provided was really good.
These guys are fantastic - a warm atmosphere, great conversations and the service is amazing. Right from booking the appointment, walking in to the salon, to the finished product (performed by Holly, who absolutely killed it, her work is unreal), I felt confidently at ease. These guys are Artists! Highly recommend.
Moved to Dunedin about 18 months ago, and have struggled to find a hairdresser that understood my requirements and followed through on my requests. Finally found Aart on Saint Andrew and have been super impressed. Haircuts that are easy to maintain myself, and my colour is exactly what I asked for - and they are cheaper than where I use to go. Would definitely recommend.
Well worth paying a little extra when the results are this good. Friendly, knowledgeable staff who listen and offer valuable guidance in making good style choices. Atmosphere is electric and at the same time welcoming. You feel special and valued from the moment you arrive, and come out feeling great. Best of all, was able to replicate results at home and look just as fab every day as when I left the salon.
Aart always treats me warmly, like a fiend. I have not once had a bad colour or cut. I believe they employ the best of the best. Friendly and upbeat. I tend to stick to one hairdresser and in my time being their I have had 4, and not one complaint. They are very helpful re products for your hair type, and good products to keep your hair in a healthy condition. Darryl and Tanya are both the lovliest people ever who are head of house, and Darryl ALWAYS has me in fits of laughter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
