Had a large Molar extracted today, I was referred by my Dentist as the tooth was somewhat tricky with a break in it. Was so well looked after, the student made me feel more relaxed than I would have been. It was managed really well, and I hope KC goes as well as I think she will in her career. Thanks Team.

Have been trying to get a new asthetic partial plate made for last year & couple small fillings done over several years now but keep getting told that there aren't any students available to do any of the work, & they keep trying to make me pay the qualified dentist rates which are three times more expensive & too expensive for me, I was told just for the 5 teeth partial esthetic on ly plate which I cant eat with its the plastic cheapo (not the same amount of work as normal eating plate)to make, told that it will cost me over 600 dollars just for that & then several hundred more for 2 small & one tiny filling- 2 of which weren't done properly the first time, I hear of people getting appointments within a week or 2 with a student to get a plate or denture fixed but it seems it's only me that cannot get these things & am not allowed the same in the same amount of time, I waited over 15 years just to get my teeth scaled & cleaned despite dozens of calls over those years asking why I had never had it done, the last senior dentist I saw was really great the best I've seen his dentist to patient communication was perfect & the dental nurse equally as great also, lovely nice friendly polite communication from both people which was the best, but months later I still cannot get my partial plate done & it's barely holding together & apparently no final year students or other students are available still to make one, & still am hearing from several more people since then that they are getting appointments with students & being seen quite quickly within weeks or a month at most, I just want the same dental treatment that everyone else serms to be able to get at the DUNEDIN Faculty Of Dentistry, & to be able to be seen by a student that everyone else can get at a price I can afford, there shouldn't be treatment bias which is what I have experienced before I saw the last dentist, please I just want a new partial asthetic plate first & the few small fillings done, why is it so damn difficult to get treatment & at prices that your other patients can get

I phoned on a Monday, explained my situation and was booked in first thing Friday morning. I arrived 15mins before my appointment time to fill out paperwork but didn't even finish it before being called in. The Dentistry student was awesome! Made me feel comfortable(I hate dentists), made sure I didn't have questions and double checked all my information. My issue turned out to be a Wisdom tooth, which they were able to be extracted the same day. I have also booked in for a few weeks time to have my other Wisdom tooth out. Highly recommend this place for your teeth needs! Professional staff and made me feel good leaving the place although I knew the pain would be coming later that day.

I had been under oral medicine in Wellington and moved to Dunedin. I couldn't get in to oral medicine in Dunedin for years (based on the wait time). So I had a fairly straightforward request for the dental school (recommended based on them being the first stop to escalate to oral medicine) for a robust mouth guard as my previous one had fallen apart. I have TMJ and my teeth are sensitive based on grinding and genetics - hence being under a specialist in Wellington. However, the dental school mucked up the mouth guard 3 times - making it too tight, not the right type for my issues, or too big. Even when I mentioned it was too tight I was told it would 'loosen' with time but I ended up with a crack in my front tooth and reverberating nerve pain through all my front teeth. The young dentist did seem to genuinely care once things were going wrong.. but at the outset had a bit of a laid back attitude. I did warn him my teeth had issues etc but wasn't taken seriously. Now I have a treatment injury claim with ACC but I'm still upset that it's my front tooth that now has an ugly crack in it ☹️ this was back in April/May and I'm still having some issues. I don't think it's worth the money saving in the long run to go here!

Going to the dental school has been the worst mistake I've done, I've had quite a bit of work done in the dental school and now have been told by a private dentist that the work was so bad that they have to be done again, so to save a little extra is not worth it in the long run, not impressed

They seem like a competent bunch of dentists and dental care professionals until they get a major problem to try and fix!,they’ve had 3 goes all trying to fix my problem and have only made it worse and more unbearable, but at times if you have a major problem etc they seem to be a bit blasé about your problem especially when it’s effecting your quality of life,it’s like they push you towards suicidal thoughts then wait weeks for them to decide what to do next!. It’s as if they realise they’ve done a hash up job and won’t be able to fix it again so a person can even eat properly now without your gums bleeding and in continuous pain, they’re definitely not as good as they claim to be and that’s from first hand knowledge,I feel that they should work a lot closer with the hospital ! Perhaps ?, one thing that is very obvious as it being an expensive course in medicine there are far too many foreigners working down there that don’t understand the NZ way of life?,I’m not being racist but being honest!. Another thing is after many operations and they don't get it fixed they just give up so I find some of the staff very incompetent! They've ruined my life! I can no longer eat steak, hamburgers or anything else that’s hard because they’ve ruined my gums!.

On Tuesday went in for oral surgery. To remove base of wisdom tooth. Nigel tan was my dentist. Lauren was his nurse. Nigel was informative about the procedure and what aftereffects I might have. Needed 3 needles of local anesthetic , procedure took over an hour, but Nigel explained everything throughout. I felt quite relaxed as a result. His nurse was friendly and we had a chat about the west coast cycle trails. Overall this was a good visit. I highly recommend the dental school for its care, professionalism, and follow up care. Went back for checkup to see how things were progressing today, and left with peace of mind that everything was healing nicely.

I would like to thank my team of students that i met on Wednesday 4/8/21 and Friday 6/8/21. I had consultation from a nice young female student, they were on time with no confusion about what the plan was. Appointments were made for 2 days time for a filling and 2 extractions. I came back friday and again they were on time with no waiting around. The filling was first which was a huge hole by the way, the student was very gentle and thorough with regular check ups and minimal assistance from the tutor and then went straight through to have 2 teeth extracted by 3 students which were all very friendly, talkative and professional. There was no complications and no pain and also minimal assistance from their tutor too. Overall a great experience! Thank you all so much!

Only giving a 3 star due to recently coming in for a tooth extraction, friendly people. Meanwhile the dentist accidentally cut my gum next to my tooth that got an extraction. It is a bit sore and it's been 5 days but this is what happens when people are in so much pain and desperate to get a tooth extraction as most dentists are expensive. I just believe some of these dentists needs to be more careful and observe more in what they are doing
