Had my brake pads replaced here (both front and rear), and the whole experience was solid. The pricing was fair and transparent, with clear breakdowns for parts and labour. Cory and the crew at Retro Automotive are honestly the best mechanics I’ve dealt with. I took my old Mazda in for an engine rebuild, and ended up getting a bit carried away in my requests to get the car looking as tidy and original as we could. Quickly turning into me handing Cory never-ending lists of extra's i wanted to complete. Every time I’ve been back, the experience has been nothing but smooth. There’s never been an issue, just solid communication, fair advice, and seriously top-quality work. The attention to detail is unreal, and you can tell they really care about doing things right—not just rushing it through. On top of that, Cory’s just a genuine legend. Super helpful, easy to talk to, and always makes time to explain things properly. It’s rare to find a mechanic that ticks every box, but these guys absolutely do. Can’t recommend them highly enough—if you’ve got a car you care about, take it to Retro. You won’t regret it.
The Team are awesome, I had a full service done on my VW campervan. They are 100% genuine and honest with everything, even fit me in within a few days. Lovely family run business and you can tell! Highly recommended
Our tandem-axle caravan had a wheel starting to seize up as we headed into Dunedin. Hard to find a mechanic available so soon after the holiday break, but Retro were recommended and brought someone extra in to have a quick look. They warned that we may need to have a part freighted in overnight. However, while we popped out for lunch they diagnosed a wheel bearing issue which they were able to resolve with parts they had on hand, so we were back on the road early afternoon. We appreciated their straight forward descriptions, their willingness to fit us in at very short notice, and then resolving the issue for a reasonable price! Superb service - thanks team!

Waste of time ordered and paid for parts in February and it’s august and still waiting for some parts to arrive. Each week I ring or text them and they just give me another excuse. This would be the worst customer service I have ever had. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM
Cory was recommended to me by a friend who had his classic car worked on at retro auotmotive, he couldnt recommend him enough.
