Very disappointing experience here for what was meant to be a rare treat. They forgot two of the mains and everyone else had finished theirs before the last two came out. One of the forgotten mains was fish and when I cut into it, it was undercooked and jelly like, almost entirely inedible. They promised free desserts next time- but we definitely wonβt be back.

Impeccable food accompanied by amazing service.
You can tell the chefs put in effort in every part of concocting their dishes. I had the lamb loin and duck confit, they were both amazing.
Lamb loin was tender and juicy, accompanied by the red wine reduction sauce which went really well together.
Duck confit was tender, juicy and flavourful. Sides were extraordinary too. Specifically the Brussels sprouts. Crispy and light, it goes really well with either main course, or even as a bar snack.
Floor staffs were attentive and they knew their products well. In terms of recommending wine or food!
Not sure what's up with the negative reviews, but this place is amazing! Try it for yourself.

Absolutely the best!! We had a range of starters, followed by two mains and sides and two desserts. The best dishes we've ever eaten and we've been all over the world. Highly recommend!!

No.7 Balmac was such a memorable dining experience! We absolutely loved the warm, inviting ambiance and the genuine hospitality from the staff. The food was incredibleβevery dish had depth and character, and the smokiness from their signature wood-fired cooking really came through beautifully.
The wine pairing was excellent too, and it was clear how much care and thought went into everything, from the plating to the flavors. Itβs the kind of place youβd want to return to for both special occasions and relaxed evenings alike. Highly recommend if youβre in Dunedin!

The liver pate paired with fragrant charred sourdough was the highlight of our meal. The proteins were cooked well and tender. However, the amount of goat cheese in the venison was overpowering.

A lovely spot for a quiet catch-up or a large group. Thereβs downstairs seating as well, with option of outdoor/garden tables.
One of the best savoury scones Iβve had! Will be back here when in Dunedin again.

Very friendly and helpful service. Sadly on the day we went they seemed to be out of a lot of menu items like the fish of the day etc, but the food that was left was still absolutely delicious. Will happily return when I am down this way again.

Loved this place! So so pretty with nice staff.. And the best chocolate chip cookie.
The menu is (finally) different that other cafes, so you can try something more interesting than just "big fry-up".
The Mediterranean breakfast was delicious, including great olives and tasty Feta. Coffee was great!
