On the plate at Tu-meke DON, the idea is simple, bistro-style and well executed. Team members keep things friendly and on task. Plates offer plenty without tipping heavy. A sensible spend for the quality. Orders move at a steady clip.
Fantastic sushi and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The owner and staff are lovely too. Atmosphere is great with some music and indoor/outdoor seating.
Loved these guys offer a slightly different version of the classic sushi, well presented. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Don (large) and portion size was great value for money, I will be back

Best sushi in Hawke’s Bay hands down. So fresh, Salmon is freshest we’ve ever had at a sushi shop and you can tell they love the food they make. Always enjoy our food from Tu Meke Don, owners are very lovely, the layout and design of the shop is beautiful and always very clean. It’s an overall great dining experience eating there. Only complaint is they moved from Napier to Hastings so now we can only get it on occasion but it’s probably for the best budget wise, could eat here everyday. Their sushi platters are perfect for occasions.
