I have been visiting Spice Traders for quite some time now. The food has always been amazing, which is why I enjoy coming back again and again. I always make it a point to appreciate the efforts the staff put into their service. I was also happy to see the recent changes made in the restaurant. Today, I ordered Aloo Paratha for a change, as I usually prefer South Indian dishes. However, I was disappointed to find that the potato stuffing was placed inside naan dough and served as Aloo Paratha. I tried to politely explain this at the counter, mentioning that Aloo Paratha is traditionally made with whole wheat flour, but I was told that β€œnobody makes Aloo Paratha with whole wheat flour.” That response was disappointing, and it made me feel that I perhaps should not have mentioned it. For your awareness, the traditional ingredients for Aloo Paratha are as follows: For the dough β€’ Whole wheat flour – 2 cups β€’ Salt – a pinch β€’ Water – as needed β€’ Oil – 1 tsp For the potato filling β€’ Boiled potatoes – 3 medium (mashed, no lumps) β€’ Onion – 1 small, finely chopped (optional) β€’ Green chilli – 1, finely chopped (optional) β€’ Ginger – 1 tsp, grated β€’ Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp, chopped β€’ Salt – to taste β€’ Red chilli powder – Β½ tsp β€’ Garam masala – Β½ tsp β€’ Cumin powder – Β½ tsp β€’ Amchur (dry mango powder) – Β½ tsp (optional) If naan dough is used for the potato stuffing, it is more accurately described as stuffed naan, not Aloo Paratha. The taste and texture are also heavier and richer compared to a traditional Aloo Paratha made with whole wheat flour. I hope this feedback is taken in the right spirit, as I truly enjoy dining at Spice Traders and wish to see the authenticity maintained.

Didn’t mind the food, medium chicken saagwala had good flavours, mild butter chicken was ok. Naan burnt. Parts still tasted ok. Thing that let it down was the amount of hair we found throughout the curry and one of the side sauces. Bit unappealing to find. Also one of the chefs was on his phone which doesn’t make for very good hygiene principles. Seems to have changed a lot (for the worse) since we last visited.

Thank you, very delicous meal, had the famous butter chicken, very nice, comfy seats snd reasonable price. Easy too access with plenty car parks and variety too choose from. The staff could have been more friendly like the last lady mentioned, but I absolutely will revisit as the food was worth it. Thank you
