Amazing views, comfortable room, beautiful breakfast and a restful nights sleep! Jan and Colin were extremely friendly and welcoming hosts.
Lake Karapiro Lodge is touted as a luxury lodge. There is no doubt that the location is lovely with outstanding views. The rooms are spacious with ensuite bath. The hosts are pleasant and agreeable providing a nice breakfast. Unfortunately for us what was lacking was the "luxury". We booked well in advance, however when we arrived later in the afternoon the room was cold, the bed looked hurriedly made, and the curtains (in need of some repair) weren't opened properly. I could make a list, but it is easier to say when staying at luxury accommodation there is a sense of being looked after, some thoughtful touches perhaps, but unfortunately we didn't experience that here.
This place is gorgeous!! The views are incredible and perfect to stay at if you’re going or coming from Hobbiton. Beautiful day and night views. We loved watching the sun set ! Collin and Jan are lovely and it was great to chat with them and have breakfast with other guests and talk with them about their travels. Highly recommend. They’ve done a great job cleaning this place up and getting it operating again after C@v!d
Outstanding view, incredibly close to Hobbiton, and exceptional breakfast. Colin and Jan are wonderful innkeepers.The bed was also exceptional. The sky was dark and it was quiet as can be. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
If there were anything higher than five stars, this place would get it. The room was amazing, very comfortable, and the view absolutely spectacular. Location was perfect (we were going to Hobbiton). Don't hesitate to take advantage of this place if you are visiting NZ!
Yep - 5 stars all the way! What an amazing destination for a relaxing long weekend - panoramic river/ lake views from every room and we highly recommend opting for Jan and Colin to conjur up a magic three course candlelit dinner for you in the cozy fireplace lounge. Perfect hosts, perfect destination, perfect long weekend. Will be back soon.
We were there in 2016 and we were absolutely stunned with the visuals of the room how it was kept and the stunning scenery. The breakfast we had the following morning was absolutely amazing couldn't have asked for a better stay highly recommended
Colin and Jan were extraordinary hosts! The breakfasts were excellent and the view of the river from our room was stunning! They were consummate hosts and we hope to stay again!
What an excellent place to stay at. The owners were warm and inviting. Breakfast was made to order and excellent. The views were amazing and the dog was was just amazing. I’d totally stay here again.
As we travelled though the North Island we arrived late into Cambridge but could not secure accommodation anywhere. We were recommended Lake Karapiro Lodge and we were so pleased we were. Anne and Eddie were fabulous hosts. We had a wonderful room, beautifully comfortable bed, and in the morning we were greeted with one of Eddie’s great coffees. Anne and Eddie shared their story with us, which I always love to know as people’s journey always makes life richer. Highly recommend this wonderful Lodge.
