EDITED FOR YOUR RESPONSE: I completely disagree with your version of events. Your summary misrepresents what occurred, and several statements made are simply untrue. Your claim that we accepted complimentary breakfast is false — we did not accept or consume any breakfast. It’s disappointing to see this included as if it were fact. To clarify, the reception staff did not offer us a room change immediately after the first night that we “declined.” Instead, they phoned us at 8:35 pm on Saturday to offer a room change for the final night as they could not repair the toilet. Which, we happily accepted and were able to move into at 12 pm on Sunday. The bathroom was not clean, with black hair on the shower walls, wall stains near the toilet, and toothpaste residue — all backed by timestamped photo evidence. Which on the phone, you admitted these were removed once we'd changed rooms and you were disappointed in your staff. The toilet did not flush properly, regardless of how “loose” the button was and was unable to be repaired hence the room change. A working toilet and a clean, functional room are not luxuries; they are minimum legal and service standards. The air conditioning only blew hot air, making the room extremely uncomfortable. The lady at reception Saturday morning said she'd sort it for us, too which we came back in the afternoon with a blistering hot heat pump turned on. We reported these issues multiple times on Saturday and were repeatedly told they had been “sorted,” when they clearly had not been. The suggestion that your staff are well trained and responsive is also inaccurate. The reality is that staff failed to communicate between shifts, were unhelpful, and, frankly, dishonest in how they handled our complaints. We were given repeated assurances that things were fixed when they were not, and it’s clear there was no follow-through. We also did infact notify your staff member on check out Extremely disappointing stay – not worth the money. We stayed from 24–27 October, and the experience was completely unacceptable. We were not given the room we booked, and the one we were put in was filthy — black hair on the shower walls, stains by the toilet, and toothpaste smeared on the wall. The toilet didn’t flush, and the aircon only blew hot air, making the room unbearable. We reported these issues multiple times on Saturday, and each time were told they had been “sorted” — but nothing ever was. The staff clearly weren’t trained in customer service and didn’t communicate between shifts, so we had to keep going back to reception to repeat ourselves. When we were finally moved on Sunday (our last night), the new room had aircon clicking noises and a rock-hard bed with a big lump in the middle where two beds were joined. A working toilet is the bare minimum anyone should expect, and we went without a properly functioning one for two nights. The hotel only offered a 20% discount for the first two nights, which is completely inadequate given the circumstances. The male staff member on the last day was friendly and kind, but overall this stay was disgraceful for the price paid. No management on during the weekend and not contact to them could be made. Would not recommend.

Perfect location, close to everything including the bus interchange, heat pump in my room wasn't working which is why it's not 5 stars, but it came with a wall heater to use, overall good experience:)

There was no hot water so it was a cold shower for me. I noticed in 2024 on Trip Advisor the hotel management responded to a comment about no hot water saying it's something they are fixing. This is clearly a long term issue. Nobody also bothered to make up the room (i stayed 2 nights). Striking this hotel off my list to stay at again! The only positive of this place was the cafe downstairs - staff were lovely and food was good - and it's location.

I don't think this is a good choice if travelling for business. The wifi is slow-to-crawling, I had to use phone data as a hotspot to email. Aircon doesn't stay on, so you have to keep getting up to keep the room at any kind of temperature. There's no on-site restaurant - that is to say there's a rooftop bar that isn't connected to the hotel. So there's no room service for a working dinner, and the rooftop bar was closed on a Monday anyway. There's no charge back facility either. The room was tidy, bed was fine, and the reception staff were very pleasant. But I'd recommend you look elsewhere if you're staying on a busy business trip.

Stayed here ahead of an event. Room was nice, bed super comfy. Great view back to Port Hills. However, staff never alerted us that the water was being turned off early hours of the morning, only discovered when we got up to shower. Called to reception who then informed us that they had anticipated it being back on by 8am… it was now 8.30am. We ended up leaving at 9am seeking showers elsewhere. Poor customer service not to have advised us on check in or in the morning when it wasn’t back on as expected. Perhaps could have front footed disgruntled, grubby, coffee-less guests with notification at the very least, and/or discount on stay considering basic commodity not available. Or voucher for future stays? Kinda gross really. Mostly that it just hadn’t been shared information. Wouldn’t stay again because of this.

Don't normally put reviews out there, but as they have been a bit lumpy for the Muse thought I'd contribute our really positive experience there. I made an error with another booking so was a late choice made by my travel agent, and was nervous after seeing reviews about cleanliness etc but for us no issues at all. Reception, common areas and room (we were on 6th floor) were all spotless. Lift was a bit knocked around but given its used for top floor bar and restaurant supplies a bit of leeway on that. Room decor was art deco lite, with really comfy bed and pillows, good sized bathroom and rain shower head. Water pressure so so, but I've had a lot worse so no issues. Some noise from restaurant above but again nothing to complain about. Location is good and getting better once stadium is built 200m away. Minimal interaction with staff but they were all friendly. We parked out on street as plenty of metered parks about which are free 5pm-9am. We will stay here next time we're in Christchurch, really happy with our experience

Right in the centre of town. Modern if small rooms with large bathrooms. Friendly helpful reception. Limited but good breakfast buffet. The rooftop bar is a must visit for the view and the atmosphere. Would definitely stay again.

Was a good location. Room was comfortable enough, and breakfast was average. Parking was slightly awkward, wasn’t overly easy.

This place is amazing. Loved my three nights here, corner king room was awesome, top floor great view with morning sun. Appreciated the little electric heater given its winter. Bed very comfy, room modern and bathroom/shower decent size. I had breakfast included, the only thing I would change is more variety for breakfast, maybe some hot food like scrambled eggs and bacon. It would be 5/5 with that. I used the complimentary gym at snap fitness, a 2 min walk away. Hotel close to everything including public transport. Really enjoyed my stay, highly recommend.
