At PJ's Burger Bar & Mexican, the menu stays classic fish‑and‑chips and no‑fuss. Portions suit sharing without tipping heavy. Service stays present without fuss. Portions are generous yet well judged. A sensible spend for the spread.

What use to be the highlight of this town has been sold multiple times into a uncaring establishment that only cares for profit. Refuse to even have an up to date menu online because " that takes too much time an effort to maintain". Sad to see my favourite childhood takways go so down hill that even mentioning an online menu is met with anger. Even in the 90s they embraced online an made a massive name for themselves, now this. Rip Pj's, you will be dearly missed.

Purchased some food off Mexican menu. I got it home and it was in edible. Absolutely horrible. I couldn't even finish the food. Taco, nachos were what I purchased. Place looks dated. But the lady behind the counter was lovely. I didn't bother to take food back as I live 15 minutes away and just wrote it off as a bad experience and to not get Mexican from there again

I’ve never been more disappointed with a meal which saddens me to say as the ladies who work here are lovely. I purchased a $28 fish and chip pack, and it wasn’t even a full scoop of chips (added a photo for context of the packet size and amount). The fish in this pack was okay, smaller on size but nothing to lose sleep over. Overall the pack did not seem fitting for its price range and what was given. I also purchased 3 burgers (Bacon lover $8.30, cheese burger $6.50 and fish burger $9.80). Very underwhelming burgers, and bland. The fish burger’s fish was extremely stinky, to the point it was removed from the burger and swapped out for a fish from the pack. Food wise, I wouldn’t recommend. Customer service was exceptional, and the ladies are very lovely.

The food was beautiful, fish, hotdogs with sauce, sausages and chips. Plenty for 2 adults and one kid, and there was left overs. Fish was a great size, sausages and hotdogs perfect and the chips we loved. Service was excellent and a park right outside the shop. I reckon you all should go try Pj's take aways.

The worst fish and chips I have ever had the oil was so old and the snapper was not snapper or fresh was terrible!!!!! So disappointing. Tasted disgusting we couldn't even eat it. Do not get fish and chips from here.

PJ's offer a huge variety of freshly cooked takeaways, there's something for everyone on their menu. They don't need to have such a range, they're the only takeaway bar in Te Aroha. Gourmet & regular burgers, Mexican dishes, Seafood, Asian rice & noodles, Chicken, & I think 4 or 5 options for fries. Reasonable pricing & fast service, seating on the footpath & because it's Te Aroha, there's always parking right outside. No wonder they're always busy.
