Picked The Village Kitchen based on the reviews and I'm happy to add another 5 star review. Couldn't fault the food as it was delicious. Cute atmosphere and the prefect size not to get crowded and loud which was lovely.

We arrived and went to counter. Was told our table was at front. Was not seated or asked if wanted drinks. Had to go up and order drinks. The food was not great. The seafood pasta was only shrimp/prawn pasta. The lamb rump was just that. Well it did have a soggy rosti the meat was stacked on. The place was so loud we could not even hear ourselves and the wobbly table was annoying. When we paid and said about the pasta missing the seafood the waitress went to the chef and came back saying it was all there. Not sure where the clams and scallops were that he mentioned. But the waitress said I think the chef was lying!

The food was HOT and delicious! We enjoyed every bite. Our waitress was lovely & welcoming. It wasn't too busy but that was fine. Thanks for having us!

Small quaint restaurant that happily took a walk-in table for 2 for dinner on a Tuesday - I suggest larger groups book. Meals had good flavours. Seafood chowder lacked seafood and needed more than just shrimp. Steak was cooked as requested and was a very generous size. Chicken roulade was good but the sauce was very sweet for my tastes. Satisfying meal.

Really attentive staff, very friendly. Meals are great quality and portions (I ordered a side and didnβt need it). They also seem to have specials on every night of the week. If your driving through and looking for a quality, hearty meal - this is the place.

On the way back from Waihi we stopped in Morrisville to get something to eat. Few places open and we decided to try this Village Kitchen. Just 5 of us there, no other customers. But the food was fantastic, I ordered the prawn salad, my kids shared the smoked shrimp pasta and my wife picked the salmon. Everything was tasty and well served. Staff very kind and efficient. Price wise is the cheapest , but considering the quality and flavors, it was totally worth.

Visited as a family group on Saturday night. It was busy, but not packed, so a nice atmosphere. Good service, prompt and polite. The entree, garlic bread, was big and two was too much for five people. The mains were all nice; tasty and well presented. The desserts were amazing. Maybe a little expensive, but definitely worth it. We'll come back. Update - visited several more times, still very good.
