Awesome accommodation for people who like to be living somewhere peaceful and quiet. However, if you’re not into long walks, you should reconsider because the accommodation is like 15-20 minutes walk to the university. If that’s something you don’t mind, then this place is perfect for you. There’s a common room where you can play pool and table tennis, a Japanese-inspired garden for some alone time.
I wanted to share my experience with Sonada's accommodation services, which has unfortunately been quite disappointing. Even though I left Sonada on May 13th, I still haven't received my complete bond refund. There have been ongoing issues that remain unresolved, and this situation has left me dissatisfied. It's important for accommodation providers to ensure transparency and adhere to their agreements with tenants, as it directly affects the quality of service and trust in their offerings. Additionally, I was penalized for two weeks due to my early departure, as stipulated in the contract. Surprisingly, the unit was occupied just two days after I left, and based on the terms, I should have been penalized for only two days. This discrepancy in applying penalties raises concerns about fairness in Sonada's practices. There is also an outstanding amount of $256 that has been pending for two months. Despite their promises, each time they delay the payment without clear reasons, providing only new dates for when the payment will be made.
Student dying in his dorm and not discovered for two months is a sorry state of our atomised society... I've watched documentaries of people dying in apartment and only discovered because of smells or unpaid bills....
I temporarily stayed in a room with shared accommodation at Sonoda in a building called Rimu. The curtains in my roommate's room were covered in black mould. There was black mould growing underneath all of our beds. The entire apartment smelled of mildew. As our stay was before the term started, the Sonoda office was closed. It was impossible to get a hold of anyone to restock the bathroom with soap, paper towel and toilet paper. Just a nightmare. An expensive nightmare. If you're thinking of using the temporary accommodation on campus, you're better off booking an airbnb near by.
