No way a four star hotel more likes two star. Dirty carpets in the hotel and smells of curry 24/7. Park view more like car park view. Stains on the furniture. It’s a pity because it’s a great location to Hagley Park. Reception was none existent. Very poor. Needs a good shake up.

Absolutely pathetic customer service at reception!!! I would give 0 stars if I could. The breakfast is a scam, we waited till 7.15 for the breakfast buffet (which opens at 7am supposedly) that we paid for in our stay and there was NO ONE at the breakfast lounge, the room was still locked. The worst thing was there is NO ONE AT RECEPTION till 8am and not even picking up calls, what kind of hotel doesn’t have 24 hr reception? The reception did not tell us anything about breakfast at all, even though we paid for it. We demand a refund of our breakfast buffet as we waited till after 7 and called multiple times in the morning, all of it gone to waste. The hotel stinked so bad, the pillows were uncomfortable, and most of all there is no customer service at all, we are extremely disappointed , don’t waste your money here.

We stayed at the Parkview on Hagley twice in October 2025, returning after travelling around the South Island for several days. Both times we encountered issues with our room. The first room we stayed in had issues with the TV and, after arriving on a Friday, we were told by the staff that it couldn't be rectified until the following Tuesday (the Monday being a public holiday). Okay, first world issues, we can take that on the chin. But upon returning to the Parkview on Hagley for our second stay, our room (which was different from the first) had a myriad of problems. Light switches didn't work. Power points didn't work eg. the power point over the sink in the bathroom which meant no shaving or blow-drying your hair in front of a mirror in the bathroom. The bath (one of the main reasons we chose the hotel) didn't have a plug! How can you not have something so simple and something so easily available as a plug?! We therefore weren't able to use the bath. The sink in the bathroom dripped ... constantly and, once again, we were told by the gentleman at reception that it would take several days for this situation to be rectified. So we had to put a face cloth in the sink to stop the noise of the constant dripping but, more importantly, what a huge waste of water. And it wasn't a slow drip either. If you wanted to do washing, the washer and dryers required coins (fair enough) but reception refused to provide us with change so we had to go to a local convenience store to get change - utterly ridiculous! The traffic noise can also be a problem, given the hotel looks out over two main roads that lead into the city. But what was really frustrating was the complete lack of care and concern shown by the staff when we raised these issues with reception. We received a stock-standard "we can't do anything about these issues but can make management aware and they will contact you". Well of course no one has contacted us. Why would you not have someone on site who can make an executive decision like that? So, no, we would not recommend Parkview on Hagley at all.

We stayed here twice once at the beginning of our holiday and once at the end. The rooms are spacious and clean. Beds are comfortable. There's a kitchenette that has enough of everything to make things easy. Bathroom is big and well appointed, ours had walk in shower and a good size bath, it was great. TV seems to be a problem in NZ not sure why, but couldn't get local channels anywhere. Great locations only 11mins from airport and about 7 mins to town, so many local restaurants of all different nationalities, great choices. I would recommend the Parkview on Hagley. Off street parking too. Nice staff also. Thankyou

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was our first trip to Christchurch, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay! The room was one of the best we’ve stayed in — extremely spacious, clean, best view - park facing and beautifully maintained. It even had a spa in the bathroom, which made the stay extra relaxing. There is parking on site. The hospitality and service were exceptional. Harman was truly lovely and she was very considerate, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Highly recommend booking here — and Harman is definitely the best person to deal with!

Good location, close to a shopping mall, restaurants and park. Spacey, good facilities including jacuzzi. However, due to at the corner of main road, noisy from outside and also sound proof is not good enough noisy inside as well. Access path to their ustomer car park is quite narrow and tight, if you drive a large size vehicle you need to pay attention it. If you don't mind the noise it is good.

For the pricing, location, space and cleanliness of the room was great. HOWEVER - The place was built before the invention of soundproofing... very loud in terms of every door closing on my level and above, the lift, neighbors although they weren't being loud just terrible sound proofing. I was staying on the first floor so I'd ask for the higher floors.

Do not recommend. Starting with the positive, bed was an acceptable level of comfort (king bed that you almost can't notice the join, even though it was two smaller beds as is very normal in hotels). The negative.... Noone when we checked in even though reception is supposed to be open til 8. There's a phone in case reception is unattended, even the person on the other end of the phone said reception was open. No cot in room even though I made damn sure to have confirmation it would be there so my sister didn't have to deal with that with a tired baby. This confirmation was not easy to get either, they were near impossible to get in contact with, didn't answer the phone and not good at replying to email. Parking information extremely unclear. No coffee in room. WORST OF ALL, bathroom smelt like urine and had hair hanging around from previous guests. Cleaners knocked on the door at 0930, even though check out is at 10. Most of the group had vacated their rooms, but unacceptable for those that needed the time to complete their morning routine (especially on a Sunday!) Some in the group also complained of hearing a lot of noise through the walls (toilets flushing and water flowing etc)

Stayed 3 nights. Room was big but dated. Stains on the duvet and rubbish left by previous guests still in the bin. Reception was blunt and after requesting a late checkout (only one hour) and was approved as a VR member, some guy knocked on my door at 10 saying it’s checkout time. Got the feeling I was being evicted. Overall, ok accomodation (bring your own pillows) but service is very sub par. Won’t stay again.

I specifically booked to stay at Parkview on Hagley as they did breakfast included. The first morning the breakfast room was closed. According to the info book in the room, breakfast on Sunday starts at 8am - the room never opened. I tried to find a staff member and could only locate a cleaner who told me that breakfast was the following day. The following day, same again - nothing. Tried to find a staff member and found the same cleaner who just told me that there was no breakfast. I emailed direct to complain but never heard back. Great room, zero service and do not deliver on what you pay for. I would recommend giving this place a miss.
