   I have been visiting the Raw Essentials Store in Mount Maunganui to pick up each week’s food for my two dogs since putting them on a Raw Essentials diet about five or six weeks ago. The improvement in their skin condition, the reason for considering a change of diet, was noticeable within the first week on the Raw Essentials food and has continued to improve in the month or more since then. My dogs are cocker spaniel, poodle crosses (Spoodles) who have been with me for 13 years. They are almost totally deaf and have poor eyesight but are active and healthy, and for most of the lives they have been very happy dogs. I have always given them the best food I can afford. Their coats where originally a deep black colour but in the last few years they have become noticeably grey and lost a lot of the dark black sheen the used to have. About six months ago I switched them to a dog roll that was produced by my local butcher. Partly because I like to support local businesses, but mainly because I believed that it would be better quality then the dog roll I had been giving them from the supermarket to supplement the high quality dry food, which was their primary diet. It wasn't until I met someone who had the same breed of dog that had experienced severe skin allergies very similar what my dogs had developed that I realised it had started about the time I switch them to the food from the butcher. I was in Pukehina at the time, and the person who I had just met randomly, said they had switched their dog to a Raw Essentials diet and their dog’s skin problems disappeared within a couple of weeks. I live an hour in the opposite direction to Mount Maunganui from Pukehina, but I drove directly to Mount Maunganui and called in at the store. The two staff members, Sarah and Nicola, were so helpful and knowledgeable, and gave me such good advice that I swapped Jackson and Olly over to their new diet that day. It has been the best thing I've done for them in 13 years. Sarah and Nicola also recommended a shampoo that they stock, and suggested that may help is the itching and discomfort that my dogs were having, so I also picked up some of that for them. Whether it was the full diet raw food on its own, the shampoo, the combination of both, or having removed the high carbohydrate dry food and the butcher’s locally produced dog roll they fixed the problem, I don’t know for sure. But what I can say, absolutely, is that both of my dogs are the happiest they have been for quite some time. I know this because they are wagging their tails constantly like they used to when they were younger but had not been doing so much for the last few years, and not at all in the last few months since their skin allergies developed. And amazingly, something I would not have imagined possible, their coats have returned to the same condition and dark shiny black colour and gloss that they were years ago. I can't say enough about the quality of the food and the products that Raw Essentials provide, but the reason that I travel over an hour each way every week to pick up my dogs food, is because of the fantastic friendly service I get when I visit the store, and the obvious joy that my dogs experience when they are greeted by Sarah and Nicola each week. Interestingly, a number of people who I have enthusiastically shared my ‘find’ with over the last month, have made comments like, ‘you know you can get raw food at a lower price from other places‘ and ‘there are online shops that are cheaper’, but they don't realise the value of high-quality products combined with excellent service and a high level of knowledge and expertise. Yes I could order raw dog food from other places, but that would be at the cost of missing out on one of the highlights of our (Jackson, Olly and me) weeks.

   I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt i needed to repress how unbelievably happy I am with these guys! Never had I received so much help and support. I'm trying to sort out my fur babies diet to help with an issue shes having. When i arrived to the store on Saturday they had already set up and food plan, had read up on her file and were nothing but helpful and knowledgeable. I'm still working through her diet and have called them with updates and again, they are nothing but helpful and caring. Can't thank you guys enough! - Truly
