Great experience in our hour of need. Empathetic and clear communication throughout, and expert emergency treatment meant 3 days later our dogs recovery is looking very good. A big thank you from Brutus to the WAVH team.

My cat was so clearly full of fluid but you kept her for a night and half a day for β€˜hydration’. Claimed she ate but it was barely adequate. She died the next day. We could have been told so we could have spent longer with her at home instead and my daughter could urgently come home as well if we knew how serious it all was. Money hungry.

We had to have our cat put down on boxing day. The staff were absolutely amazing, so caring and you could tell they truly love animals. They also took a stamp of her paw prints and gave us 3 cards with them on for free. I hope we don't have to go back but if we do we would absolutely choose to go here.

We had to take our Boxer in after she got a deep bite in her throat by another dog. The attention she was given was really good and treatment options were clearly explained to us. She was expertly bandaged after the wound was cleaned, given a cone to wear and we left with antibiotics and pain-killer. I was impressed how well the bandage stayed put the rest of the weekend and the wound looked good when our usual vet removed the bandage on Monday morning, ready for surgery to stitch her up.

I noticed so many poor reviews, and they didn’t seem fair so I wanted to add my own. I brought my dog in and ended up having an overnight stay. Was it expensive? Yes. It’s an emergency, after hours clinic- I expect it to be costly. Did I wait a long time? Yes, there were other animals that needed higher priority care. Did they take good care of my boy at the end of the day? Yes. I interacted with MANY staff members and they were all kind, empathetic, and genuinely cared for me and my dog. They broke down the cost of things and added up the prices at every step to let me know where we were at and what my options were. When my dog had to be admitted over night they let me stay with him as long as I needed and gave me tissues and offered me the kitchen to make a hot drink. I got to see how the girls in the back talked to the other animals there and I was comforted knowing I could leave my boy with them because he would receive that same quality of care. They assured me over and over that they would call if anything happened or that I could come back at any point in the middle of the night. And they did. At the end of the day- nobody wants to have to have a pet emergency. Nobody wants to spend $1000 and wait hours in a clinic. But the staff here were so wonderful and I appreciate every single one of them for how they treated me and my boy.

Took my cat Winston in and found staff to be excellent. The vet nurse at reception was extremely professional and asked all about the cats history. Xanthe the vet was brilliant and ended up saving a huge bill by her timely intervention. Couldn't be happier with the service!

Very terrible. Threatened us with contacting SPCA when taking our injured cat home, declining surgery due to an unreasonable cost. Luckily we were able to get the surgery LESS THEN HALF the price. They wanted us to sign a form saying we were AGAINST them, just horrible service and no empathy staff.

End of life care for our elderly dog was the best from Waikato After Hours vets. Thanks for helping us through this challenging journey with such kindness and respect. The condolence card and thoughtful paw prints of our dog were greatly appreciated. Thanks for everything. Kind regards, Andrew and Helen Taylor.

We had to take our meow in after Acute kidney failure. Staff were so incredibly kind and understanding when we had to make the decision to put her down. Expensive, but it's a vet, ...get insurance, it saves the insult to the wallet. Their efforts and beautiful notes with our meows paw prints were so incredibly touching after such a hard decision.
