Depends on what time u go to get good quality. Service is slow. Raw fish is pretty much cooked fish. Be prepared for a long a wait takes about 25mins for ordering kai over the counter. Just lacks the time management due to so many different operations happening at the same time.
I was not disappointed with the smoked fish ,a snapper & kahawai both were fresh & the flavour was good. The seasoning was just right not too much salt and sugar in it. I also got a small crayfish & seafood salad and they were also very tasty and fresh I went in on a Monday it was very fresh mid- morning , the shop looked very tidy and clean with a decent selection of different seafoods to choose from. Will go back again when the craving strikes, yummy.
The seafood wasn’t fresh. oysters were sour& smelly the fish must have been rubbish because it looked like boiled chicken when it broke apart and i also ordered the paua on fries it tasted liked it had peanut butter in it, instead of the creamy look you normally have it was brown and oily.
Amazing kaimoana if you hanging out for a seafood fix. I ordered the fisherman basket $16.50 and was not disappointed
My go to fish n chip store. Fresh fish and fisherman basket is worth it ! I’ve tried ringing them on Friday /Saturday nights so I don’t have to wait 15-25mins. But no use, they don’t pick up during busy hours, have to walk in. However the last time I’ve been here, the fish of day was awful - fish was super chewy and bouncy. Next time I’ll ask fish of the day before ordering, but otherwise it has been good !
Easy fast and friendly. I turned up as they opened and yet they were still fast at getting what I needed. Absolutely love this place
Amazing fish and chips! Thin batter, well seasoned fish. We also ordered battered scallop which was very yummy. Chips was nice and crispy. Oyster in the tub was also nice. The service was a bit slow and the food is worth the wait. This Is a takeaway shop so there is no sit down tables.
Super impressed with the variety, quality, freshness and value here. Left a happy camper. Would defiantly recommend a stop here if fresh seafood is on your menu. ❤
An absolute gem of a chippy. Our family have been coming here for over 18 years, and everything served here is just quality! Excellent selections of fresh fish as well as seafood thats hard to find elsewhere. Pricing is also reasonable, and the staff are always friendly and very helpful. Also can get very busy some nights so there can be long waits but it is well worth it!
