   We stayed in the kitchen cabin for one night before returning our campervan mainly to pack our things and for an easy departure on next day morning. Surprisingly this is one of the best places we have stayed in the South Island. Michelle was very helpful with the online booking and responding to all the questions. The cabin is very clean and the river beside the property is very beautiful.

   Situated in approximately 26acres of bushland, adjacent to the Ashley gorge and Ashley River. This is a beautiful area with plenty of space for everyone. There are clean and modern bathrooms and well appointed kitchens. A small playground, with swings and a slide etc, sitting on a raised area full of bark-chips for safety. Lots of time and effort has been put into this park over the last few years, and is a credit to the new owners.

   A lovely camp ground with sprawling grass terraces and a amazing swimming hole with an abundance of native birds and extensive walking tracks on site. But what sets this place apart is the compassion and dedication from the owner. I was met with a very warm welcome from the owner and he takes alot of pride in providing a safe and tidy area for family's and friends to enjoy. An upstanding gentleman and great host indeed. As a local of Oxford this place is one of our hidden gems and I can't recommend exploring it enough.

   Thank you to the owners of the Ashley Gorge campground! We spent a night in one of the cabins of the campsite, very pleasant and ideal to spend a good moment in love! A very good welcome, always with a smile and a good mood! The campsite is also perfect to spend a moment with your family with the river below and the numerous hikes all around. So don't hesate.

   Very pleasant campsite by the river, good clean facilities and very very friendly and helpful staff. Ideal as a first or last stop from or to Christchurch. Only 60 min from the airport and yet already in the middle of New Zealand's nature. Absolutely recommendable.
