Im usually super skeptical of buying raw fish as you usually cant beat homemade - but omg their raw fish is to die for! highly recommend. also a delish mussel fritter and great friendly service, will have to go back to try their breads!
We stopped by the road side stall..the service was 10/10, the bread we got was also 10/10 donuts especially the apple one 10/10. We will definitely be back. Also the deal grab any for $20 is such a great deal.. thankyou
Best kai and service in Paeroa! Itβs one thing to receive a delicious meal, but itβs something else to have a good yarn with the people cooking or packing the food. We love telling our friends and family who are passing through town to stop and grab a bite to eat from Old Mates. Today we tried the raw fish for the first time: so delicious! Corn fritter stack = chefs kiss. To the crew at Old Mates - thanks heaps for the yum food and cool yarns.
Walked by Old Mates whilst exploring the town and got a mussel fritter (which I've never had before). Gotta say, I had a smile on my face after eating it. Wonderful staff and friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend anyone to drop on by and try their fantastic choice of food.
My new go to stop when heading back home to the coromandel. The pizzas are top notch and I'm excited to try the pastas. Every time we've been the service has also been outstanding. Highly recommend!
Love this place! I drive half an hour to get here but so worth it. Generous toppings, bases always cooked never doughy. The pizzas go so much further than you would expect. Going to dominos for three adults we always need a pizza each and sides. If we come to old mates I just get two pizzas and there's leftovers. Incredible! Also staff is so warm and friendly
We got a cheeseburger and a pasta dish (I forget which) takeaway. Both were tasty and generous portion sizes. The service was friendly and we didn't wait too long. Also good on you old mate for innovating your way around the staff shortage with a self-service kiosk - it was easy to use, no issues at all.
We really enjoyed the ribs and Roar pizza! So well cooked and nice friendly man who served us. Will definitely be back!
