Never enough staff at peak times. Waited in line for 10 minutes, then my checkout operator decided to operate the lotto counter for 5 minutes. My checkout operator had been pulled from vege department. Hire some high school kids or something, it's not that hard!!@

It's a pretty typical Woolworths experience. However, I do feel that it falls a bit behind other locations in the CHCH area. The lack of self checkouts can feel a bit tedious, but the staff are friendly at least.

I’ve been to this Woolworths a few times with high wait times as no self checkouts are installed and decided to try click and collect to try achieve a faster shopping experience. I had a click and collect order which was in a 30 min window, arrived around 7 mins into my 30 min slot and had to wait for about 15 mins (as there was a small line of 2 at customer service) the lady at the customer service desk asked for help and then another lady came over and let me know they hadn’t picked my order which I had placed the day before, she asked me to take a seat and they would get it out to me as soon as it was finished. I had to wait for another 10 mins for the order to be picked. I have decided after this experience that I’m just going to go to New World for click and collect as it takes less than 10 mins. Don’t get me wrong the staff are so lovely here but the store feels unloved and neglected by the higher ups in the Woolworths business. More staff (maybe more management) may be a good start to achieve better efficiency.

i do my shop here every week and always receive great customer service, especially this morning being served by the lovely blonde lady at checkout and another woman who i think is the manager who guided me to an open checkout, she is always super friendly. great supermarket :)

I had very unfortunate experience today at this store. My son who's 5 year-old and I went shopping this morning. Everytime my son enters the supermarket he grabbed 2 mandarins from the free shelf. When we reached at the cashier, the old asian lady with a big glasses told me that bringing two fruits out is not allowed. She added that the fruit is only to be eaten inside the store as it helps the children to distract by eating while the parents are doing shopping. I haven't heard that kind of policy, she then told me to read the notes on the wall. Her tone was condescending and in a rude way. I am an asian decent myself, imagine if I was Kiwi, Would she told me off? Part of me thought it was racial profiling. I kept my composure but my son was already distressed and returned the 2 mandarins. He was traumatised citing he doesn't want to come back. I've been a patron of this store for 15 years. I came back after one hour to have conversation with the manager, She listened to my concerns with direct eye contact and feels sorry for what have happened. Nonetheless, Most of the staff member at this branch are very helpful and approachable.

I've been shopping here weekly for my family for the last two years. As I was paying for my items the manager checked my bags to see if I've been stealing. That's not a great way to treat regular customers. I spend 300 per week here but will take my shopping to the many other supermarkets in ChCh. Judging by the rundown store that doesn't even have self checkouts I think they need more regular customers. With service like they have now it will never happen

Handy location and good parking but a slightly limited selection. Still has all the basics, reasonable pricing and friendly staff. Lately they seem to take a long time to restock. Shame they reduced their open hours.

It’s a good local supermarket, just wished they had self checkouts so there wouldn’t be queues all of the time.

Avonhead mall is small but good enough for buying small stuff, supermarket is small, there is a bookshop with postshop, florist, hairdresser, coffee shop, chemist and gift shop. Outside the mall are a few more shops.
