My brothers go to Fade Joint to get their hair shaved and styled. They love the vibe, meeting new people and the music there. I went there twice and enjoyed the atmosphere and workplace culture, it's very chilled out and it makes you wonder why people go there a lot.
The single star is for the poor barber inside the store who attempted to help me phone the makeup team who had me booked in for an appointment. I waited for an hour. I made multiple phone calls. Sent multiple messages. They were a no show. I had to find another makeup artist at the last minute on the day of my sisters wedding. I do not recommend this place for anyone looking to have makeup done. People were getting some really good cuts done there, though - so I can at least say objectively that they are probably making at least some people look good.
Wanted to try out somewhere new. I was not impressed with the wait. Arrived at 11am on a Saturday, was number 3 in line and waited over 2 hours until I was in the chair (there was only 1 barber working). Most places I've been to would only take maybe 45 mins tops. I was mostly happy with the fade, but if I'm honest, I'll stick to my regular place as they are much faster with the same if not better quality cut.
These guys are very professional. They take their time to do a good job even when its busy. Friendly guys and most importantly is I get the same person cutting my hair every time I go there. (Many other barber shops in auckland always put new random guys with no experience on every single day for them to get their experience. These new people charge you to practice cutting your hair and end up with a bad haircut every time.) At the fade joint I've never had any random person cutting my hair. It's the same good skilled guys on every week so I know I'll get a good looking hair. They also play good music and friendly environment that make it comfortable to be while waiting.
