The only Countdown that opens at 8am, all the rest at 7am, shouldn't opening hours be consistent, right across the board like pricing? Derek is lovely, always very helpful. We bought a sourdough from here yesterday in a plastic wrap, and it was so hard and stale, we couldn't eat it. Sourdough bread is usually crusty and so soft inside, we bought one from Paknsave Botany today, it was so fresh and lovely to eat.

One of my Indian friends who works there buys food that costs more than $15 for himself with a discount sticker and buys it for $2. He also brought it for me a few times, but he charged me more than he paid for it. He brings it for many people and he recently bought a better car.

Woolworths Pakuranga at the town centre is a convenient local option for grocery shopping, especially for those living nearby. The store is generally well-kept and clean, with friendly staff who are often praised for their helpfulness and polite service. Many customers find the late-night hours useful, and the layout, while compact, is easy enough to navigate for a quick visit. Online ordering options like click-and-collect or home delivery add extra convenience, particularly for busy households or older shoppers. However, the store isnβt without its issues. One of the main complaints is around stock availabilityβcommon items like bread, milk, or fresh fruit can sometimes be missing from shelves. Pricing is another concern, with some customers feeling that Woolworths is more expensive than nearby alternatives like PakβnSave. There have also been reports of outdated shelf labels, which can lead to confusion at checkout when advertised specials donβt match up. The layout of the store can feel a bit cramped during busy periods, with narrow aisles and occasional bottlenecks near the checkout area. When staffing is low, long queues can build up, particularly in the evenings or on weekends. The broader Pakuranga Plaza where the store is located has also been facing challenges. A number of small shops have closed down, and ongoing construction work around the busway and flyover has impacted foot traffic. The recent closure of The Warehouse has left a noticeable gap in the retail mix, although new pop-up stores and food vendors are starting to appear. Locals are hopeful that planned redevelopment, including new apartments and upgraded facilities, will help revitalize the area in the near future. Overall, Woolworths Pakuranga is a reliable option for locals needing day-to-day essentials. Itβs friendly, clean, and easy to access, but it would benefit from better stock management, clearer pricing, and a stronger surrounding retail environment to truly shine.

An alright spot for a quick shop when you need to grab a few things. While other stores in the area have a nicer feel, it gets the job done. You may come across some interesting characters while shopping...

Nice store. I went to a bunch of Countdowns in NZ. Right next to an excellent weekend night market.

It's always well stocked. Make sure you have your one card to get some points to spend. Lovely baked goods as well!

My last review of Pakuranga was supposed to be for the whole shopping center should of said 60 % not 60 shops. Apologies. We spent many great times there over the years.

Maria on check out is amazing, the reason for 2 stars is the trolley guy. I understand he might be slightly different in an intellectual way. Therefore said nothing to him. I went to get a trolley inside, he leaned on them and said , Nah just wait! He was just leaning on them! Sort him out, regardless he knows what is rude, he laughed!

Always seem to have no range of food, shelves rarely stacked always stripped bare, long lines at check out and robot check puts frequently broken or turned off. Older shop so not that clean. Other food shops close buy much better. Skip this one
