Your attempt to justify charging families for a day of care following a declared state of emergency—the Auckland floods—by hiding behind the technicality of a Ministry of Education directive is reprehensible. The distinction you draw between a forced closure and a short-notice reopening is a cynical exploitation of contractual loopholes, not a reflection of care or community spirit. You boast of high teacher-to-child ratios and permanent staff salaries as justification for these charges. Let me be clear: your operational costs and staffing model are your responsibility as a business owner, not a burden to be unjustly passed onto families during a community-wide catastrophe. Using the dedication of your teachers as a financial shield is disrespectful to both them and the parents who pay your wages. Your reference to not charging during COVID-19 closures proves you understand the concept of moral obligation during a crisis. Your decision to abandon that principle now reveals a pattern of convenience, not integrity. It shows that your "understanding" during COVID was likely driven by government mandates, not genuine goodwill, and that this goodwill evaporates the moment you perceive a chance to invoice. Do not mistake our family's years of loyalty and satisfaction with the teachers as an endorsement of your management. It is precisely because we value the care our children receive that your administrative greed is so galling. You are risking the trust and stability of your own business over a single day's fee.

We have been part of the Nurture whānau for over 6 years, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the care and support my children have received here. The teachers are warm, attentive, and genuinely responsive to the cultural backgrounds of all tamariki. The curriculum is innovative and engaging, always tailored to the diverse needs of the children, which has made my kids love going to school every single day. One of the many things I appreciate is the kai provided — it’s healthy, delicious, and such a blessing not having to worry about packing lunches! Nurture truly is a place where children thrive, families feel welcomed, and culture is celebrated. Highly recommend.

I am very happy with Nurture Early Learning Centre. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the learning environments are well set up for children to explore and grow. The food is freshly prepared, and I really appreciate the caring and loving teachers who make the centre feel like a second home. That’s why I chose this centre for my newborn, and I feel confident she is in safe and nurturing hands.

I rate this daycare so highly, my son is 3.5years and has been going since he was 7 months old. My son is very excited everyday because of the teachers and staff are so welcome and nurturing. It’s amazing to see how well children can succeed in such a loving environment. Everyday a healthy and fresh cooked meal is provided meeting all of our child’s nutritional needs. Highly recommended Nurture Early Learning Centre to all parents who are looking for a well-rounded, supportive learning environment for their child.

I have recently moved centres and brought my baby girl here and I have been having such a great experiences with the transitions and communication with teachers. I am always kept informed about my child's progress and that helps stay sane when I am at work, knowing my baby is in great hands. I highly recommend this place if people are needing of care.

My boy was in other centre and he didn't feel good. I changed him to Nature and everything changed. He is really happy now and I am really happy with the professionals of the centre they are so good with the children and also the activities of the centre are really nice for the children. The best decision that I did for him.

Our experiences of this place? I will honestly need counselling. Our near two year old daughter has been bitten 7 times and her whole face scratched up (at least 10 scratches) in 6 weeks. She is currently in a full leg cast and was bitten twice in three days while unable to defend herself. There is a SIGNIFICANT biting issue in the toddler room (4 plus as per their admission) and when we tried to discuss it with them in a meeting at the beginning of this and then through subsequent emails, they completely gas lit and dismissed us. They have never once said sorry and never acted to implement necessary changes such as adding extra staff to keep Violet or the other children safe. Parents have complained to the MOE and they’re investigating but also looking for more parents experiences, so contact me for the details should you want them. I also have photos. - DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. In response to your reply Trudy: 1. The MOE declared you’d done the bare minimum in meeting requirements, but also that the number of bites Violet received and that the whole room experienced, were far more than they would ever expect or want. If that’s how you determine your centre management success, then you’ve just outed yourself in a public forum. 2. The MOE also identified your record keeping of incidents as unacceptable, and apparently you admitted this. 3. Communication was also identified as being poor by the MOE, ironically something I know SEVERAL parents requested more of from you and Guneet, but were denied. 4. I didn’t know the third complainant. So to imply the group who went to the MOE were all “friends” is laughable. Again, demonstrating your utter inability to admit any wrong doing even when you have been told you are. 5. If Violet was being cared for so well when she was in a cast, why was she bitten twice in three days and twice picked up with a wet through her nappy? 6. It’s clear from discussions with previous teachers of yours, mentions of ‘shareholders’ in emails to parents, and a lack of action in wanting to protect children like Violet through paying for extra staff, that prove the bottom line is the most important factor for you. And that is your value that we don’t align with.

The management at this centre is terrible. Several parents have made complaints regarding biting and aggression, yet management said the extent of it is normal and we’re “exaggerating” the problem (rather than doing what they need to do to keep our children safe). Essentially, they are prioritising profits over our children’s safety because they refuse to do anything significant (like getting more staff in).

Our son has been attending Nurture since he was 5.5 months, as a parent I couldn't have asked for a better centre than Nurture. The reason I am writing this review today is that my parents arrived here in NZ and met my son for the 1st time and all my son could talk to them was about Nurture and the teachers. My parents went to pick up my son and as soon as they met the teachers they were very happy and excited as they knew their names and could tell how much my son talks about them. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for heartfelt care and nurturing at an early age.
