   Over the past few years, we have hosted our Annual Community Event at the end of each year. Seeking support from this particular supermarket has unfortunately been a challenging and quite time consuming process, involving numerous phone calls, store visits & email in an effort to make contact with the store manager Deepee. While we are grateful for the occasions when items were eventually provided for our giveaways, the ongoing need to chase responses and wait for promised follow ups has led us to reflect on whether the process was worthwhile. Sadly, we have decided not to pursue support from them again. We are fortunate to have other local sponsors who have been responsive, supportive, and prompt in assisting with our requests. Moving forward, we will focus our efforts on partnerships that demonstrate clear communication and genuine commitment.

   I’ve visited Countdown Manukau multiple times now, and I’m disappointed to say there’s been no improvement in the staff’s attitude. The staff continue to be rude, unhelpful, and dismissive. There’s no greeting, no eye contact, and no willingness to assist customers. It’s frustrating to keep coming back and experiencing the same poor service. It seems like customer feedback isn’t being taken seriously, and that’s unacceptable for a store of this size. I hope management takes action to improve staff training and create a more respectful, welcoming environment for shoppers.

   The groceries stuff was okay and the price is reasonable. However, this Countdown has some of the rudest racist check-out people I've ever seen. I said "Hi how are you", but they ignored me. After scanning my grocery they don't even bother to tell me the total price. After I paid for my stuff and said "Thanks" they still just show a poker face... They literally gave me 0 communication. I know their job is hard and stressful but the next customer is white and they treated her totally differently!

   I came here on the 23/04/23 at around 12pm to buy some snack foods for me and my family when I noticed an Indian female from allied security with white wired earphones had walked past me and went straight to the countdown workers. I was standing in line waiting to pay for my food when they all started staring at me. Then once I got to one of the self check outs they were all watching me scan my food till right when I left. I felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I knew I was being judged by what I looked like because of the clothes I wore and because of my looks. It felt as if they were racially profiling me, thinking I was gonna steal. I then kindly asked one of the workers if they had any bags to pack my foods in and she rudely pointed at the bags and walked away. Why should I have to have to be made to feel like a criminal because of your stereotyping!! I’ve never felt so unwelcomed in my life. If I could rate this place zero stars I would but I had to leave a star just to post this.

   Nice big store, overall clean and well laid out. Excellent range of products and brands. Shelves are nicely stocked. Shelf tickets and labels for the eggs section should be looked at and sorted appropriately when stock changes. I accidentally bought overpriced eggs because the price ticket was incorrect. I didn't want to harass the staff and didn't have time to step out of line to get different eggs so I paid the extra $4.

   This branch is better than the Westfield one. Well stocked and spacious. Plenty of parking including undercover. Well located and convenient. Staff are friendly and helpful. Produce section sometimes is a little bit messy. Normally isn't too busy except during the holidays.
