   What a fantastic little find! We visited for some breakfast and the food was absolutely fantastic with plenty of choices and fast service. A real highlight though was the lovely John who chatted with us and shared insights about the area. He was so lovely and warming. The whole team are friendly and chatty, it really is a lovely environment and I wish we had more time in the area to come again. Fruit cake 10/10!!!!

   I was visiting Upper Hutt and decided to check out Sugar and Spice Café after seeing it pop up on TikTok. Let me just say. it went above and beyond what I expected! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The owner was exactly what you’d want from a café owner: welcoming, friendly, and genuinely kind, taking the time to make sure every customer felt looked after. The food was absolutely incredible. Fresh, full of flavour, and plated with care, you could tell there was real passion behind it. Everything I tried had that perfect balance of comfort and quality. It’s one of those places where you can taste the love that goes into the food. It’s rare these days to find a café that ticks all the boxes: amazing food, top-notch service, and a welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Sugar and Spice Café is that kind of place. I’ll most definitely be back if I’m ever in Upper Hutt again, this is a spot worth traveling for, and one I’d recommend to anyone looking for a memorable café experience.

   It was our first visit and will definitely be back! Very lovely owners who are happy to have a chat and the style/character of the cafe completes the package. Food is fantastic and service is quick. Lots of cabinet food choices available as well as menu options. Street parking is plenty so you’ll never end up having to lap around the streets looking for one. They do close later in the afternoon and are closed only on Tuesdays so it’s a rare chance to miss out on that sneaky late afternoon coffee/snack.

   Lovely experience, immediately welcomed in and greeted with a cheerful smile by staff. The café has a warm ambiance and plants everywhere, so lush. I ordered the hash stack with bacon it was delicious every element of the meal was cooked perfectly. I personally picture a stack of hash browns when I see ‘hash stack’ but it clearly states on the menu potatoes so be warned, but the potatoes were really yum nice & soft in the middle. I also ordered an oat flat white which was good too. A lovely brunch 10/10 recommend

   Highly recommended. The food was delicious, waffles especially were amazing. They treated and greeted every customer with a smile and a friendly welcome. Had our son's 5th birthday breakfast there and they made is so special. Will certainly be back.

   Was a bit slow being served but in their defense they were really busy and the food and coffee delivery was quick. Will definitely go back. Food was good and so was the coffee and the person taking orders did apologize, it's nice to see a busy place

   Comfy surroundings, with exposed beams and lots of healthy plants, and tables not too close together. Gentle piano music that was just the right volume - pleasant but not intrusive. Good coffee, and charming proprietors. Would recommend!
