Best katsu Iβve had! Succulent fresh chicken and a perfect amount of kewpie mayo and katsu sauce. Would highly recommend. Better then one sushi!
We have to go to Tornado Sushi at least once a week - Lee does such an amazing job of making beautiful sushi and sashimi, always fresh, small batches - just delicious

First time trying tornado sushi and all I can say is wow. There is so much variety in the sushi that will definitely suit everyoneβs preferences. When you first walk into the shop you are warmly welcomed by Mandy and her big smile. Mr leeβs attention to detail is truly remarkable, the way he perfects his sushi is amazing. I would give 100 stars if I could definitely would recommend!
Best Japanese food I have seen in Kapiti! I got the katsu rice bowl, and it was so good! the restaurant looks really nice, and the staff were friendly too, I really recommend going here!
My daughter and I ate in. The sushi was absolutely delicious, also had the hand rolled sushi cup. Service was friendly, welcoming and I am looking forward to trying some of the delicious hot dishes featured on the menu. The group next to us,were so impressed, that they were going to return for an evening meal! The hospitality shown to us was wonderful. A nice touch was a cup of miso offered to us,.just beautiful. Thank you Tornado, for fabulous food and showing the true meaning of hospitality.
Best Sushi in Kapiti. Fresh high quality ingredients and hand made as you request. Nothing else like this that I've found. The care of the food is matched by the warm hosting.
The most authentic sushi I tried in the Wellington region (and I tried every place that looked promising. My favorite Sushi Bi now goes to position #2 in the chart). Rice, nori, fish, appearance - everything is almost like I am back to Sibuya or Tsukiji market. Oh, and they have tamago sushi to die for! The only downside is that these sushi are a bit more expensive than the others. Still it is a great value for money if you like good quality sushi.
So fun to experience food that meets and exceeds your hopes. Though only a few reviews existed, they were very positive. As travelers, we have one chance in town to get it right. So pleased to have chosen Tornado this evening. As things were not too busy, the chef accommodated our special request for a spicy California roll with row. Along with another roll that we invited him to create after suggesting a couple flavor combinations. The taste was wonderful. Plus, isnβt the sushi presentation just a feast to the eyes? Thanks.
