Whilst very busy, I thought the foods we tried were simply excellent. Various danishes, bagels, custard square, steak n Cheese pie, some weird bread stick thing. Nice tasting coffees. No particularly big size though
Great place for coffee and some bites. Lots of varieties of baked items with cakes, sugary danishes and savoury puffs.
This is my untold time here. I still love it like the first time I visited here, well, 20 years ago? The bread here is very good. I had lunch with my wife on this trip, and she loves the chowder. So do I. You would never be able to appreciate this cafΓ© as much until you visited some of the so-called cafΓ© outside this country. This place serves excellent foods and drinks without fuss. Congratulations on keeping this going for so long. Well done!
This is a good places. Prices have definitely gone up but then this is post Covid era. Food is tasty and service is acceptable. Itβs a busy place so be prepared to wait. I had smashed avocado with salmon 29$ (no eggs. (Extra 3$ for eggs) long black was 4.5$z Serving size is medium. ββββββ Jan 2025 Had their nacho burger. 26$ this was disappointing .. the patty was not juicy and extremely hard. Overall 1/5 for taste and quality. Chips were ample though.
If youβre after great coffee and a huge variety of cabinet choices, this is the place to be! From sandwiches, to salads, savoury, sweet desserts etc. There is also a menu you can order from and the place is often bustling so best to book if you have a few going.
I loved my first time here, it's my partner's favourite place and it was great Sunday breakfast. Just a reminder to self to say no to bacon on pancake for myself next time. I enjoyed the pancakes and the mocha. My partner loved his morning bagels and coffee.
Janus Bakery is my favorite cafe in the Lower Hutt. These guys serve consistently great food and coffee. They offer a breakfast menu for dining in the cafe area, or you can also purchase from the bakery cabinet and eat that in the cafe, like I did today. I had a delicious and generous corn fritter served with fries. Also offered with salad as an alternative option, but couldn't resist the fries. Great kicker for brunch, and the coffee was perfect! The bakery cabinet is full of eye watering delicious treats and healthy food options, too. Highly recommend.
The place is neat. Plenty of seat. A good selection of pastries, coffee and menu from the kitchen. For this visit, I had the South Korean Chicken burger. It was on special menu. The chicken was crispy from the outside, and soft and juicy inside. The coleslaw and pickled veggies complimented the chicken. The smash avocado made it more creamy. The meal also came with fries (mix of potatoes and kumara) with aioli dip.
First time here. Unique in it's own style. Had the full fix breakfast. Flavours were Different to what I am usually use to, which makes this place an exception from the rest. Nice food, great place, awesome atmosphere. Definitely be back to try the pastries, pies and other good stuff from bakkerij.
