I strongly urge any parent reading this: please do not enroll your child at this school. And to any student considering Aorere, think very carefully before making that decision. My child attended this school a few years ago. They were already struggling bullying, and things only got worse. Despite repeated pleas for support, the schoolβs counselors ignored their concerns. They were removed from the rugby team and later denied even the chance to trial again, with the administration claiming my child was a βbad influenceβ on their peers. My child even considered suicide as a way to cope with what the school did. That says enough.

I was a student here in 2007 and this school sadly being a decile 1 and flactuated to decile 2 over the years aint it. I was in my last year and our calculus teacher left for scotland leaving us with no teacher for entire month in middle of NCEA level 3. Had to bleed in the library trying to figure stuff out on my own and other class fellows. Sad situation which the school left us in. Eventually made it in life as school gave us hell to get through. Now BEngT in Civil and BSc in Maths from Uni of Auckland

Ms Ram is the best teacher, a bright light in a dark corridor and the only reason I come to school everyday. If you have her as your teacher you are very lucky, trust me. She's also choice aye Kia Ora. This review would be one star without her.

People say it's a bad school and it has a lot of problems. Being an ex student here it actually does not have that many problems. It's the students who decide to be successful or not, every other school is the same and will provide the same results depending on the student. Other than students there are some teachers who put in that extra effort to see you succeed and stay in contact with you even after school.

lol worst years of my life, the only good thing about the school is Mr. Booth. some other teachers too but i forgot their names. if you're any slight bit of an alt/art kid then please beg your parents to not let you come to this school. i had to force myself to play sports just to fit in. i was there over 5 years ago so this might be different. but anyway transferring from a different highschool to this one was a mistake. i'm glad i left early. oh also i just remembered how bad the 2 year 12 chem and bio teachers i had were. forgot their names because they're irrelevant. they were both female though. gjruhgtisehrtngtky

This is a great school for students who are self motivated and who fits into a traditional system of learning. Teachers will invest and provide support to students who prioritise their learning but I am not quite sure about those who are struggling. I started here in 2005 as a year 12 student and it felt like I had to prove myself as a learner to be taken seriously. Lots of opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities. Music department is solid!!
