We tried the new menu this afternoon. Seafood platter was exceptional with such a varied and generous amount of seafood. It was served with a tartare sauce which was equally as fabulous. Beef burger also amazing - tasty homemade meat pattie so not the usual rubbery patties many places dish up. Flavours simple yet spot on. Could not fault either meal. Coffee good and always served hot. Friendly staff. This is a wee gem in Upper Hutt and well worth a visit. Top marks!

Way way back in about 1963 I got to see Lawrence of Arabia at this former Picture Theatre. How times have changed but they have kept old parts of theatre and the atmosphere. Brilliant. Food and service was quick, friendly and added to the experience.

Had brunch there for the first time and loved it. For those who arenβt aware, it used to be called Mayfair theatre in the 1900s and youβll be able to catch some of its history in the cafe. We had the Breakfast Special and it was perfect and a bonus to it was a well brewed coffee. Service was excellent and we exchanged a few chats along the way. The fireplace kept the cafe warm and toasty but not too heated. Lots of street parking available which adds to the convenience. This place also does discounts on the Entertainment Book or First Table bookings.

The food was tasty but just a note for the chef, The mushrooms I ordered were served on top of my toast which made the toast very soggy. If the Toast was on the side of the plate with the mushrooms alongside this would have prevented soggy toast. I also felt that the large coffee ordered was small compared to other cafes in the area.

Highly recommend the eggs benedict. Partner had the big breakfast. Coffee is great. I love that they've kept a few things from the old movie theater.

Breakfast was really good and coffee was nice. My only little negative feedback was too much hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict

The atmosphere at the Boiler Room was relaxing as usual. It is such an interesting atmosphere. The Vegetarian breakfast was delicious, with a delicious gluten free option. The Big Breakfast was filling and delicious. The coffee was delicious. I love the coffee from the Boiler Room.
